Marker light housing installation - tips & tricks

I'm nearing the point where I will be installing the marker light housings on my Argosy. I'd like to hear about methods others have used to install these housings and how did you paint/polish/seal them and what did you use when mounting them to the shell.

On my Argosy the original housings had a cork gasket between the housing and the shell. There did not appear to be any sealant used between the gasket and shell or the gasket and housing.

So, what methods did you use and were you happy with the results?

I haven't taken anything off yet on mine. However, I would ParSeal all the contact points of the housings to the shell. Those rear lights are notorious for leaks. especially the tail lights.
