Location of transmission neutral switch?
the switch has failed on our 1985 Moho, we can start it by jumping the starter. Hubby is on his way to burning man and has not been able to find a mechanic.
From internet research it sounds like it might be on the tranny.
Any pictures or ideas on bypassing it would be appreciated.
thanks

If your motor home has a turbo 400, the switch will probably be on the steering column, and look like this:

The switch also controls the backup lights, which is what two of the prongs on the switch are for. For now, a short piece of wire with make spade terminals crimped on it, and shoved into the two female terminals of the pigtail will get the starter to engage, but remember, it will then start in any gear until you get it replaced.

Oh well, new switch did not work
He found a new switch, installed it and that did not work so he is just gonna keep crawling under it to start it til the trip is over.
He did find 2 plugs wires off and now it starts on half a crank! to say nothing of running better.

Ignition switch would be my next guess. It's mounted on top of the steering column.

I have a similar problem with my truck. Until I find the time to locate and fix it I have a starter relay switch clipped to the starter. Again....it will start in ANY GEAR! All auto part stores of any worth will carry the switch. Clip the alligator clips to the starter and run the cable with the push button switch to where you don't have to crawl to. On your coach you may be able to reach up into your driver seat with it. AGAIN...IT WILL START IN ANY GEAR!
Neil.

Solenoid for the solenoid
I replaced the starter, the neutral switch, THE switch and still it wouldn't start sometimes.
I then discovered that there is another solenoid.
It sits on the top of the engine forward of the carb, to the right a little.
It goes ignition switch/neutral switch/solenoid#1/solenoid#2/starter=voila!
Be sure to get a constant duty one from an RV house.
