Mel, I was for the life of me trying to figure out why you were putting a Sikh in your engine compartment???? A Mexican wouldn't do? Easier to get parts for I would think, and no troubles trying to fly a new in from overseas.

Then I finally clued in after your last post.....Turbine, not Turban.

Seriously, I was raking my brain trying to figure out what the heck part was a Turban?

Cheers
Tony

Both of my Cummins have turbochargers even my VW Beetle TDI has one.

But YMMV.

Well, I have my turbo back with a different exhaust housing on it and today I got all the benefit sale tables and stuff out of my way, so maybe this week I can get back to the job at hand.

Had some time yesterday and so I proclaimed to getting the exhaust manifold on.

Bolted the turbo to the back half of the manifold. Got the front half on, started to put the back half w/turbo and dropped a gasket. Went out to crawl under to get it and noticed a pile of bolts on the floor. What the devil do these go to????? Oh the oil cooler cover. Now where's it at???? Did my new cover get sold in the wife's sale like my dust pan???? Now the search is on.

Two beer later I find the oil cooler cover. But now the manifold is in the way. Off it comes..... AGAIN!

I did manage to get the cover on today.

I'm still searching for the 2X2 tubing I bought to weld back into the frame that I cut out to clear the turbo w/stock manifold.

John got a text msg from the next-door neighbor.
It said "John, my conscience is eating me up... ever since you took that travelling sales job I've been cheating on you... I've been on your wife every night you've been gone for the last six months... but I promise you that I've been to confession and I'll never do it again if you'll only forgive me!"

John, deeply distressed, went to the bedroom and got his pistol, walked into the living-room where his wife was reading and, without a word, shot her dead.

Next moment, ...another text msg arrived from the neighbor...
It said, "Damn Spell-Correct! I meant WIFI,... not wife."

The turban down pipe had to be cut, shorten between the flange and the first 90 degree, the bends taken out of the down part and shorten.

Used my new Lincoln mig welder for the first time. First time I ever used a mig too... Works great!!!! Only problem I had was finding the crack I wanted to weld.

Now for everyone's favorite crack joke

Going to be laying low for next month or 3. Go in Monday for lower back fussing.

Maybe I can get back to it and get her on the road for a Memorial Day test run. Just got the inlet to plumb, water tank heater hose to splice, and the front to put back on.

If possible I always place a bright light on the area I want to weld, it makes it easier to see the joint you are trying to weld.

Mel,

Get well soon, you can't let a little thing like back surgery prevent you from conquering this project.

The shop misses you.

HOLY CRAP!!!!! L2 to S1!!!!! I didn't even know they would fuse that many! Here's wishing you the best of luck on recovery, hopefully the surgery will reduce most of your back pain! I'm in the same boat, S1-L3....still deciding on what to do, haven't had the fusion done. Best of luck to ya Mel.

I was at that point where I had to do something. L-5 was 'slipped' and starting to pinch the spinal cord.
Trouble is the pain keeps increasing for the next 3-7 weeks.
I'm never going to complain about my wife's sitting and doing nothing in front of the TV again! I sure don't want the job.
I did go out and look at it today....... Still there!

I know.... Silly little back surgery.
My day:
Get up, take pain pill, lay down. Maybe 30 minutes later, get up, sit and read, play on computer for 30 minutes to an hour and lay down. Every 4 hours start over.

Life in the fast lane for sure!

Starting to play with the 'project' today.
Got the turbo oil drain bent to fit and installed.
Then I had to take the belt off to get to a hose clamp and cut water hose tube to the water tank off to re-route because of the new exhaust turbo manifold and .
Now I can't remember how the DANG belt went!!!
Came in to see it I maybe took a picture of the front of the engine before the radiator went in.
And I found the picture of the front before the radiator. Was afraid I was going to take the radiator out to figure it out.

That getting up off the floor is not fun!
Then on top of my back surgery, I had a stroke last Wednesday! Thank God for tPA clot buster! I was lucky. After the fact they said I have a TIA. Mine-stroke. Now I'm on ASA and Pladis. Thought I had grease on my armed.....Turned out to be bruises. Got to lay low for a while again.
Maybe next week I can get my neighbor to come and put the front tires back on and get it back on the ground.
I'm just almost ready to see if it works!!!
