VB air vs. 4x4 for ground clearance.

I’m curious to know how the VB air suspension compares to one with 4x4 when it comes to ground clearance.
I doubt we will ever need the 4x4 other than ground clearance. So will the VB air system suffice for that?
We do a lot of desert Boondocking. But nothing that will really require power to all 6 wheels.

Also:
Does the VB air system allow you to drive while having the ride hight fully extended?
