I strongly recommend against anything that attaches to your awning. To prevent damage, your awning should only be deployed when you are at your campsite and awake enough to quickly pull it in if a storm approaches. I've seen too many awnings damaged, destroyed and sometimes ripped right off the rig when folks unintentionally leave them extended when a storm hits.
Of course, it's your money so do what you like, but if you leave that awning deployed when you're not around and awake, you should have some extra cash in that wallet and be prepared to spend it on awning repairs / replacement.
That said, have you looked at Clam tents? We've seen a lot of folks using them on the road. One downside to this design is that even when folded, they tend to be a long package. Check the dimensions and also make sure you're ordering the model you want.
