Shipping Advice for 325 motorhome CA to Texas
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations about shipping my 325 motorhome from San Diego CA to Houston TX? That is about 1500 miles. I think it needs to be shipped on a flat bed low boy if I have the lingo correct. I am giving it to a friend. Any advice on costs and reputable companies or ones to avoid would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Carol

Just google some brokers companies like uship or movewheels, and they'll ask all your questions) about what company should you choose i think that there are no difference cos all they are brokers, so choose the cheapest one

This advice may apply to trailers, but motorhomes and especially twin axle motorhomes need very specific handling. I have moved three of them now and all were problematic (they are 12ft 6in high off the flat bed so many states treat them as oversize loads). Uship is almost useless as the brokers are used to shipping cars, despite multiple posting I have never yet got a single bid to move a motorhome.
My advice is to search a heavy haulage tow company but be careful they don't show up with a regular tow truck, as the tag axle will be damaged if towed with the nose up.

Thank you for the reply! I tried working with uship and they just couldn't understand what I needed. I got bids that were completely wrong as far as towing methods. I know it can't be towed nose up and it needs a "low boy" flat bed correct? I wish my husband was still here he knew all that stuff...
Anybody have any good success with a heavy haulage tow company??
Suggestions PLEASE!!

2 ways to move it long distance:
1. low boy- very expensive
2. Flatbed gooseneck trailer - ~~ $3.-/mile
The problem is the loading and unloading. it takes a special ramp or lots of wood to get it up and down the gooseneck

Skip most of this intro and watch Ron Pratt demonstrate this “transformer flatbed” do it’s thing. Axles move forward, trailer tilts It almost lays down to allow loading. Might give ideas on what might work with way less rigging.

Whoa, now that's really cool. I wonder what their mileage charge is? 6-7 or more?

Peter,
No clue about charge/mile just trying to show a type of trailer that might be an interesting choice for a MH relocation. Does that trailer look promising from a MH owners eye?
Gives the MH owner an idea of what does exist.
I found Ron's channel and have watched many of his companies recovery, rollover accident videos. They have the equipment.

This 345 moving thread should help Peter's point about special ramps.
This is the type of thing I will NEVER EVER do again!
