A tragic accident for sure. It appears as though 4 members of one family were killed. Plus the truck driver coming the opposite way. Must be terrible heartache for many today.

It may be beneficial to hear more details.

In my years of driving RV's, had 2 blow outs both in motorhomes.
First was in a Champion Telstar with dual rear wheels, inside dual tire blew out while going down Donners Pass at the CA/NV line. I limped into Reno with one tire on that rear side.
Second time was with my Airstream on I-40. Right front tire blew at 65mph and it sounded like a shotgun blast. No shaking or loss of control so coasted off the road and it started to bounce slower I got. Worse, was dealing with Camping World Roadside and the morons who showed up with a flatbed wrecker expecting to tow it. After 5 hours on side of the expressway, a semi service truck showed up with knowledge of how to put the spare on. Problem was his jack was too big to fit under the front axle. Ended up using the hydraulic levelers to raise both front tires off the ground. The crowd of 12 guys were shocked to see an Airstream jack itself up and could not stop taking photos and videos. Last time I checked he had it on YouTube...haha!

I had a similar blowout on my 1992 36' Land Yacht. Right front tire blew on I 95 near an off ramp. Tire was completely shredded by the time I was able to stop. Took out a small section of the wheel arch fiberglass. Used the front leveling jacks to lift her off the ground enough to replace the tire with the spare. I always carry enough tools to R/R the wheels and 2 20-ton jacks in case I have to do the drive wheels. I've paid a lot more attention to tire condition and age since then. This year is my second time of having to replace all 8 tires. Current tires are 10 years old. Fronts were changed in October, so I only have 6 more to go.
