Running AC continuously?

Hope everyone is well. I’m camping down on Dauphin Island in Alabama with a friend this weekend, got a good beach campground site, but it’s hot out there.

Is there disadvantage to running my AC continuously from say 10am-4pm daily. It basically seems to need there.

I have 1 AC, with AC on it feels great inside. Awnings out.

As long as you have good voltage, that is what it was meant to do!!

I'm in the same position with 103° temps. My guess is it's better to set lower and have run longer than having more start ups as that seems to be the wear and tear part of the process.

But I may be wrong....

With 103 degree temps, it will likely run continuously whether it's set at 80 or 70 and won't have the compressor coming on and off. But even with lower temps outside, say 90, and the temp inside is set to 80 instead of 70, the cycling of the compressor would be pretty much the same. Set at 80, it'll shut off at 80 or 79...then back on when the temp rises a degree. Same if set at 70 (if it gets down to 70 inside.)

At present location, Destin FL. Outside temp 106. Full sun site. 2 AC running nonstop and I ain’t cuttin them off. Haha

I was just wondering the the same thing.

Where I am currently located the humidity reading on my iPhone WX app has been showing 75 to 90 degrees with 80% to 95% humidity. If the AC is not on at night things inside my trailer have been literally getting damp! I know that sounds crazy. I am from Colorado and I think it is a lot "dryer" there?

Starting out, when inside the trailer I would have the AC set to 65 degrees with fan set to "auto." Once the interior was cooled down it would cycle on and off every 10 or 15 minutes.

This morning, I tweaked my back and I have been inside all day laying down watching movies or reading... with the fan set to "Low" and the AC has been running constantly for the last 12 hours!

I hope I am not ruining the AC unit.

I think I should shut it down before I destroy it...

I rarely use the auto fan setting. Selecting a speed keeps it at that fan speed all the time. The compressor still cycles as needed. Keeping the fan on gives continuous air circulation and it's easier to sleep without it going from loud to silent if it cycles.

No, it won't wear out the unit.

Starting puts the most stress on the motors, fans and compressor, So running continuously is better than running even 30% of the time, and much better than cycling off and on 3 or 4 times per hour.
