Rivet Shaver

I am currently redoing some body work on my 83 310 like the front cap and some rear quarter panels etc and I need a rivet shaver. I hate to spend 400 bucks for a new one but I may have
to. thought I would check here to see if anyone has one for sale
before I bite the silver bullet and buy a new one . I may have to open a repair shop to pay fer it. Also if anyone has a good resource for purchasing this kind of stuff I would need the
skirts and all that goes with the tool. Thanks for any responses

I'm wondering if aircraft mechanics use this type of rivet, and if they'd be likely to have one of these tools. I don't know if small aircraft use this type of rivet, but I do know that "riveting" in general is a big issue, and often a pita in the aircraft maintenance biz.

I haven't been flying in a long time, so I haven't been around the local airport to ask, but I was thinking that it might be worth investigating. If your local aircraft mechanic has one of these tools, you could propose to pay HIM to do your riveting finish-work. I mean, how often do you plan on replacing enough rivets on the exterior of your coach to justify such an expesive tool? You know...you do your repairs, install your rivets, then drive the rig down to the airport, and let him shave 'em down.

If you are going to set a lot of rivets, do yourself a favor and buy a good rivet gun.

My son works for United Airline, I showed him a pic of the shaver and he said that they don't use them.

I addressed this question to an Airstream factory tech.~
His reply was:
"At the factory, they use a special rivet that doesn't require "shaving".
My take on this:
It’s a two man job and, the inside wall has to be exposed to the ribs in order to use these rivets.
