Rare "Aircoach"

I saw this brochure on ebay. It describes the executive ground coach, or "Aircoach" Seems like airstream made all sorts of specialized Motorhomes. I always assumed that these where owner modified.

If you ever take a trip to Jackson Center you will find that Airstream has a custom coach division that is a separate facility from the factory. Its there were special trailers and motorhomes are given the custom treatment.

Air coaches

Where did all the Air coaches go, or were hardly any made? They very rarely come up.

I actually saw one down at Can-am rv in London Ontario. The side glass is all fixed, instead of my 310's sliding glass and the seating ranged from captains chairs to opposite side sofa's. They tended to be a 24- 28' length. They were essentially modelled after the NASA Astrovans.

Cheers

Nobody knows exactly how many Airstream made; heck AS doesn't even know how many Classic motorhomes were made in the early 80's. They didn't keep track for some reason, (pre computer?).

I did post on another thread that I did see one at Can-am RV down in London Ontario. It was around 26-28 with fixed glass windows down both sides with captains chairs and a couple of sofa's for seating.

These, as with all motorhomes, were very much custom builds with AS building to suit the buyer. The option list was huge and if the buyer insisted (money talks), anything was possible. You only have to see Larry Hagmans original interior in his 325 to realize that bad taste didn't come cheap.

Cheers
Tony

Yes, defo plenty made. I've seen them from the early Argosy buses to last issue classics. I know the Cali emissions registered the air coach, funeral coach and Airstream 250 so I assume all were made......but my question is, where have they all gone? I want parts!

Nick, if you want parts the easiest thing to do is buy another rig. I bought a wrecked 345 for parts and Martin bought that 28' Argosy as a donor.

Wrecked 345
