Our First Trip was a Success!

We complete our first "real" trip in the 345 this past weekend. Drove from Louisville to seacoastal New Hampshire (1200 miles) without any issues. The 345 ran strong the whole way, burned about one quart of oil and averaged 8.4 MPG (which was surprisingly high to me). It ran right around 210 degrees climing slightly on grades just as everyone said it would.

The kids absolutely loved the trip and more importantly my wife really loved it. We're hanging out up there this week, playing golf, and trying to get the genset and fridge working on the AS. Headed back on Sunday. What a blast.

PS - We saw about 15 AS trailers coming the other way in PA and NJ over the weekend. Was something going on up there?

We are glad to know that your trip was a success and had a great time.Unfortunately ours wasn't so great. We acquired our MH early last july, it only have 64k miles. We started our trip to Florida on the second week of july. We only made it as far as Quartsite,Ar. 200 miles away from base. Our MH started to get really hot.Although it never boiled over the hot warning lite came on and it was reading around 250.Good sam towed us back to Blyth, the Chevy dealer there diagnose that our radiator is not working properly. They can't get a replacement part for 5 days so we end up driving a rent a car to our vac.We picked up our MH 2 weeks ago,we droved it home at 110 degree mid day heat up hill some times with dash air no problem. The hottes it got was 220.I wish that I waited for the deaker to fix it and gone to Florida in it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles on your first run. So Cal to FL is very ambitious!

Mine ran hot as well. Ran 210 - 220+ and got the light on once. In fact I've been working on improving the cooling system for the last two weeks and finally got everything back together yesterday.

There is a post about my ordeal under "radiator blues".

After getting back I took a closer look at the cooling system and belts and can't believe we made it without breaking down! I should have known better than to go.

A few members have reported as much as a 20 degree drop in operating temps using this CRC product. I've just added it to mine after the rebuild.

Good luck with your "new" 345. We love ours.
