Need sage advice for route planning

We are taking our 98 Land Yacht for the first time from the Oregon Coast to Tucson AZ in October. Would really like the forum's advice as to what route to take. We are considering Hwy 395 to Barstow. Opinions?

We like that route. It's on our todo list. Interested to see what others say.

Our experience last year in mid October was good weather in the Reno/Sparks area when we used 50 to transit the Sierras. Not a guarantee, but an indication that the route is viable.

FYI - the standard route is I5/99 and around LA down to I10. You will make better time that way.
