Motorhome rim size question

I have the 24' 79 M/H with factory 16.5 inch rims, Here is my question.
Can I mount 19.5 inch rims off the larger 28' model of the same year??
Was there a difference in gear ratios?
I am thinking of Alcoa wheels and think I would like the look of larger rims.
Can anyone think of advantages/disadvantages?
Why did they go with smaller rims on the 24'?
What would the difference do to mpg and power?
Thank you in advance

I WOULDNT DO IT. I THINK I WOULD STAY WITH THE SIXTEEN SIZE RIMS. 19 INCH TIRES ARE A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE FOR A STARTER. JUST MY 2CENTS.

Tires

I am still curious to the answers to my questions, but after thinking about it I like mine just the way it is and will not change the size.

2 Speed Rear End

Bumblebeetuna.

Hey,
I don't know if the motivation for increasing the wheel size was RPM related... but

I am thinking it would be cool to have a 2 speed overdrive rear end inastalled. Seems like it would lower RPMs and increase gas mileage. For us 24 footers I think we would have have the power available to support the gear ratio.

Anybody smart on this topic?

Joe
