Internet while in motion
For over a year, I've tried the SprintPCS version (Cellphone with the laptop puter).
This service works best as long as you're within their service area.
I've had no experiences using it while "in roaming" outside of my service plan's area (roaming charges rates??).
The system is very simple to install and, to use. You do have to upgrade your cellphone options with Sprint. In addition to that, there's a package to purchase which contains the software and connection cable. The software is simple to load and, the cable provides hook up between your laptop/cellphone.There is a per minute charge for this internet service(which is abt 19k connection speed). Last I checked, it was around .35 ct per min. BTW, the anytime minutes or weekend/night time rates don't cover this connection time.
There are better ways yet coming to do this, just keep an eye on the G3 world. NEC, for example, is already promoting it's version of a major infrastructure core, that it has developed.
In closing, I have to say.."It was interesting and, at the time kewl" But, I do find myself using the laptop for other functions now.
ciao
