Leak in Gray/Black Waste Water Discharge System

I wonder if anyone could provide information or thoughts on a leak that we have in our 2016 Airstream Interstate Grand Tour rv in the gray/black waste water discharge system. We were pumping gray water when water started coming out of the bottom of the rv. We stopped and rewound the hose. When we got home we pulled out the hose completely to see if we could see the problem. Attached are some photos of what caused the leak. As you can see, the plastic gray elbow has come off of the brass connection down in the center of the electric reel. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this something we can fix ourselves? Are the gray plastic elbow and the white plastic hose attachments standard plumbing parts?

I should also mention that we had just had the actual hose itself replaced in June 2017 under warranty because of some pin hole leaks that had sprung up. Thank you for your assistance. Johanna

Your pictures didn't come thru.

Go to The Sprinter B forum on Air Forums. This was discussed (broken hose connector on reel), along with fix in the last few months.

Good Luck

Your pictures are just links to another source that don't show on this forum. Your problem sounds like a poor job by shop that replaced your hose in June. If you can I'd recommend taking it back to dealer to repair. Your 2016 is still under warranty for these types of problems.

Also I don't recall anyone else recently having this same issue. Lots of use have had pin hose in the hose. I just cut about two feet off the end of mine due to leaks. But failure of fitting deep inside the hose reel are not that common.

Hope this helps.

Leak in Gray/Black Waste Water Discharge System

Ok - good photos. Did you fully remove the plastic elbow from the brass pipe or did it come apart on its own? Actually looks like who ever replaced your hose might not have assembled the fitting properly. The parts are standard pipe threads and a workable replacement should be available at Lowes or HD. But this should be fixed by dealer that installed hose as I'd say they botched the job.

Edit: I just looked closer at your photos. That grey elbow part is Schedule 80 PVC. Might not be available at local hardware store, but can be found online.

Here is one that would work from Lowes online. Check your local store for stock.

Thank you!

Thank you everyone for the replies. The pipe fitting came off on its own. We have an appointment next week to take it in for service. Thank you again. Johanna
