Inverter/charger option

Has anybody besides me tried the Tripp-Lite APS2012 Inverter/Charger? See specs on this unit at
http://www.tripplite.com/products/pr...productID=178. You can
download the owner's manual there, too.

This is the second Tripp-Lite APS unit I've owned. I originally had a 1012,
but its specs were not nearly as good, and its overload capacity was much
less (wouldn't run my microwave). Its fan also ran all the time; the 2012
fan only runs when it's really cranking. Otherwise (about 99.9% of the time)
it's almost totally silent.

The APS is actually a UPS. It charges whatever size batteries you connect to
it at a programmable rate, and it has the latest three-stage charging
system. It's made to stay permanently connected to the backup batteries
while keeping them fully charged but not overcharged. When needed, it
switches from AC to battery power in about 4 milliseconds. The output is
modified sine wave, so it powers computers and video gear just fine. Best of
all, I paid just over $500 for it at
http://www.pagecomputers.com/cgi-bin...S0122708.html.

No business connection, just what I did and am happy with
