if someone is 6'7".....

... is it possible to move comfortably around any of the pre-1970 travel trailers? Me, I'm normal, but my boyfriend is a bit larger than life. We would be looking to gut & customize a trailer, obviously, to accommodate his lankiness.

Thanks for any advice you would have on makes, models & years.

Your best bet is going to go an try a few on for "size" I am 6'-2" and don't mind ducking. Some people are more comfortable with close in spaces than others. IIRC the very old models (50's and early) have less head room in them than the later 60's and 70's models. Good luck with your search!

Our 59 is about 6'5" inside to the ceiling. Loose a few inches under the A/C. I'm 6'1" and feel comfortable with the ceiling hight. I have a cargo trailer with a low celing. It's not to bad to stoop over a little when moving around in it. Now standing there cooking might start to bother him. Small bath may also.

Our '85 325 motorhome seemed to offer the best headroom of all of the Airstreams we've owned. I think that the ceiling was just an inch or so taller than the travel trailers inside. The biggest issue for me in our trailer though, is room in the length of the bed. We sold the 325 and bought our current trailer specifically because of the island queen bed in the trailer. We removed the 'headboard' trim in our trailer, and a full-length queen fits quite nicely now.

... the difference between 6'5" and 6'7" is a crucial one! Jack is convinced that we'd have to install some sort of bubble on the dang thing. So then I'd be the only idiot dragging a silver tube down the road that looks as if it's about to hatch a bunch of little silver larvae out the plastic top!

I thought I read somewhere that Tim Burton's Airstream (the movie director-Batman) was customized to accomodate his height. It shouldn't be a problem for all you tall millionaire Airstream owners!

Maybe next summer I may have an answer to your question. Our son-in-law is 6'-7" and we will probably visit then.

We have some heavy timber beams in our house he has to duck under.

Honestly, it's only an issue when you shower and when you do dishes, or cook; in other words something where you have to stand and duck under the cabinets for an extended period. Generally, the rest of the time, you're sitting somewhere if you're in the trailer. Moving around is no big deal, it's just a matter of keeping your head down for a few feet... something those of us this tall have learned to do years ago anyway...

Everyone here seems so sweet & cute; are those the right words? Now if I can just wait patiently for the perfect silver carcass to come along & resist the temptation to raid my 401k & jump on something today today TODAY. I swear I don't know where this idea came from when it popped into my head 2 days ago. First I was looking at farms on the Internet & then it was 2 a.m. & all I could think about was Airstreams. Jack almost bought something rickety on ebay yesterday just to shut me up already (or just to be nice, maybe.... I suppose I should give him credit for being a supportive guy).

Some times you get through it and sometimes you don't. I bought a vintage Airstream knowing I didn't have what I consider a proper tow vehicle for it and the fact I have major Airstreamless vacations planned for the next two years. So it is really a fix up hobby for me. Before Airstream I was pouring over Internet want ads lusting over 40 wooded acres somewhere on the Gunflint Trail in Minnesota. My rationale. If I had the 40 acres I would never build a cabin, so...

He,he I guess I have the best of both worlds...I have a vintage airstream fix up project AND 40 acres BTW last year's vacation was taking someone else's rig to AZ for them, all expenses paid

my son is 6ft 8 and he dont like rvs period. the motor home is a little more roomier but he still bumps his head on the ac shroud.
he seems to navigate ok when it is meal time.
want to keep the boy friend. forget the rvs and buy a cabin in the mountains or by the lake.
