How do you fix the entry step.

The entry step on our 325 worked perfect untill today.
It is vaccum operated and will not retract quickly or extend.
I found a leak in the vac line and repaired it but the step still will not work properly.
Your thoughts are welcomed

When I first bought my 82 310 I thought my step did not work right. After spending about three days of turning the key on, starting the engine, stoping the engine, openning the door starting with the door closed and so fourth and trying to replace the switch. I realized that if you start the engine with the door closed it would work. Open the door the step goes out, close the door the step retracts. But only so many times then it won't work untill you put in gear and move. If you start the engine with the door open it won't work at all, you have to turn the engine off and start it with door closed for it to work
