Furnace thermostat

I've got a weird one...the furnace in my low-mileage 2005 sprinter only comes on immediately after I click the igniter on the propane cook-top. Gas doesn't even have to be flowing into the cook-top burners for the furnace to fire up...the igniter just has to click a couple times. The fuses, battery, and other electronics are all good. I live in the Northwest where it's humid.

Can I simply replace the thermostat with a new 12v unit, or does this symptom suggest an underlying electrical problem?

That seems impossible but I take your word for it. Weird things do happen.
I'd be inclined to take it to the dealer and bet them $100 that you can demonstrate the phenomenon. I'm betting they have never had that happen before.
