electric mirrors on pushers

The electric mirrors on my 1998 Cutter work some of the time. When they do not work the engine brake also does not work. Ive checked all fuses and breakers that I can find. Has anyone else had this problem, if so whats thwe fix.
Also if anyone has a wiring diagram of these circuits and any knowledge of
where the connections are please let me know.

Im headed into the black hills of sd and really need the engine brake.

Thanks

Chances are these two items are not on the same circuit, but anything is possible. The engine brake should be a chassis circuit, and the mirror circuit would be added by Airstream.

On my CLIPPER, there is an auxiliary fuse in the main Chassis panel in my center dash pullout console. I believe your fuses are located forward of the left front wheel?

I would try to put a test light on the mirror hot, and pull fuses until that went out. Then also check the engine brake circuit to confirm it is on the same circuit.

Your PacBrake may hangup with carbon buildup if not used regularly?

Keep us informed

1998 Cutter mirror & Engine brake

Thanks for the reply Masseyfarm;

Ive traced the power circuits and found the following.

The mirror switch and the engine brake switch are both on
the console to the left of the driver seat. thus they are all house
circuits (Airstream rather than Freightliner chassis circuits).

Ive posted a picture of the relay and fuse panels found on the front
of the firewall. ( under the long front body door under the windshield)

The circuit goes as follows (red arrows identify items ). The power
starts at the hot side of the AUX IGN relay. This relay is engaged by
the key being turned on.

The output of the relay goes to the 30a (green fuse) which feeds the
IGN output wires on the top of the fuse block.

The Orange/black wire out of the fuse block provides power to the
console on the left side of the driver.

Since i had no power to the mirror switch I had to start at the relay
block. Here I cleaned all relay contacts. Next I cleaned all fuse block
contacts. Then cleaned all fuse block output contacts.

Amazing! Power to the mirrors and the engine brake .

Then pulled circuits backwards, one fuse block connector at a
time until the mirrors didnt work, its the orange/black wire.
Reconnected that plug.

Then pulled fuses one at a time until the mirrors didnt work, its
the 30a (green) fuse at the bottom of the fuse block.
reinserted fuse.

Then pulled Relays one at a time until mirrors didnt work, its the
AUX/IGN relay (left row 2nd from bottom).

So the problem was corroded blades and sockets somewhere in the
relay,fuse,fuse block blades or connectors.

Ive posted all this detail hoping it will help someone else.

Yes, this happens all too often. (Corroded or dirty or loose connections.)

I just experienced this today on my Air Conditioner on the CLIPPER. The condenser fan was not coming on and after troubleshooting, it turned out to be the connection to the relay. Pulled the plug, and reinserted, and it is working, and we again have cold air.

Wiring diagrams are available from Freighliner Custom Chassis. Freightliner Custom Chassis Send an email to customer assistance on the contact page with the last 6 digits of your Freightliner VIN. They will send them as an attachment. My MH is the same as yours, doing the same thing.
Somewhere, perhaps on Airforums, I saw an article on moving the fuse and relay panels from under the hood to behind the television to get them out of the weather.
