I just did that, starting from Denver though:

Buena Vista
Grand Junction (encountered snow on the mountain pass)
Moab
Page
Bryce Canyon
Escalante
Zion National Park
Las Vegas
Amboy
Joshua Tree / Pioneertown
Palm Springs

Well, how north is north. Would not trust Colorado or the rockies in November. Route 66 is as far north as I would go in November.

I’d take a route through southern Tennessee state parks. Cedars of Lebanon. Falls Creek. Cane Creek in AR. Take in Palo Duro SP south of Amarillo. You may encounter a few freezing (+ or -) nights but all doable. We did a similar route in November last year as far as northeastern Texas.

What is your hankering for interesting to see and do on the trip? I have been all basic 4 routes (east coast to west coast) at least 5 times each for pleasure with deadlines and 20 or more for necessary travel and can say that there is really good stuff to see along any of the routes depending your interests and ability to take a recreational side trip that shows up while en route.

Page and I took a route following Lewis and Clark, also from eastern VA. Great trip. Will be chancy for cold if you go that far north in nov.

Try the Santa Fe Trail route.
