Axles and bearings for 1984 310

So I picked up a 1984 310 2000 miles from home a few weeks back.
I heard a scraping noise when I turned into my neighborhood, I decided to see if I could re-create the noise today. I made it about 0.5 miles away from my house, turned the corner and lost all forward momentum, engine revved, but no forward progress. Luckily One of my neighbors was home and towed me out of the highway. Long story short, My outer bearing turned to dust and axle broke about 1.5" from wheel end on drivers side. This is not a super serious fix, except I could not seem to find any parts in town today. I will try at a few of the more commercial type parts stores tomorrow. the Diff was filled about 1/2" below the drain plug and the PO RTV'd the axle shaft covers to the axle tube one or both of which prevented the axle lube from getting to the wheel bearings. Bottom line, I need the part numbers and source for an axle shaft, bearings and cups for both side, axle seals, axle end plate end gasket, etc. and torque procedure for proper bearing set. I am one lucky guy. Thank you.

On the road again

The 310 is back on the road.
Hopefully no one else will have to deal with this problem, it was quite a challenge to track down the necessary parts to fix this issue. The best way to be sure this does not happen to you is to keep a close eye on your diff fluid, The oil seal on the drivers side went bad, spilling all the diff fluid from the bearings, the rest was a chain reaction. the following is a parts list all Spicer parts.

Qty Part No Description List Total
2 FDM / KD12051Z Outer Bearing $45.04 $90.08
2 KB-11786-Y Inner Bearing $60.71 $121.42
2 6358 Oil Seal $32.09 $64.18
2 36637 Bearing Retention Washer $3.39 $6.78
4 36635 Bearing Retention Nut $11.92 $47.68
1 36625-1 Axle Shaft $506.25 $506.25

$836.39

So a $32 part cost me almost $1000, I am also going to add a set of Stemco Hub caps like the big trucks have all the way around so I can do a quick visual when I am fueling, I will post the part numbers of that when I get them fit on the 310. Lastly, I need to give Ron Horner at Badger Truck Center a big shout out, he was the only guy in my area that was able or willing to source the axle shaft. THey are a great group of guys that can handle big rig drivelines. These Dana 70HD parts looked miniscule sitting amongst their gargantuan brothers.
