So there is this motorhome on eBay that the owner claims to be an original (only 1 of 3 made) motorhome, the links to both the listings are below. I asked him if he could provide any information about its authenticity since I can find NOTHING on the Internet about it and his response was basically "I have a title". He also said it was done in Boehmer-Reed, Minnesota.
To me, this camper looks like it is some Frankenstein unit that somebody put together in their back yard, especially since it is front wheel drive and uses a Ford drive train, not a RWD GM drive train. Besides the fact that it is made from Airstream parts, do you think that this was actually made by Airstream?
It's up to almost $5k. There's a nice looking argy Moho on CL in my area for that price, in much better condition. I'd buy that before I would snap up this homebrew-moho.
Maybe this is the same guy who did the same thing to late 40s Spartan that I saw for sale along US287 in TX somewhere between Dallas and Amarillo several years ago ??????

I recall that in the late 70's or early 80's, someone showed-up at the International Rally with a homemade Airstream motorhome that looked very similar to this one.
It was not allowed admission to the rally grounds. This became a somewhat controversial matter as the motorhome owner protested the decision and got the local newspaper to do a short report on the situation.
Maybe this is the same motorhome. Maybe.

I realize this is an old thread but thought the attached postcard would be of some interest. My mother and father attended many WBCCI "Internationals" over the years, including the 1978 rally held in Ames, IA. A family friend, and Airstreamer, sent the attached postcard to my father in order to obtain the postmark as well as a fun reminder of the rally events and activities.
I imagine the Bohmer-Reed representative attended the rally in an effort to encourage sales for the trailer/bus/motorhome conversion shown in the picture. I wonder if a prototype unit may have been on the grounds to show potential customers?
