Airstream Rookie NEED HELP! (Albuquerque)

I Am looking for someone in the Albuquerque NM area to help me understand how to function an Airstream and to help me learn!

I am a Marine moving back to California with my family in early December, and we recently purchased a 30 ft Flying Cloud Bunk to live in full time.

Please reply here or at peacock_1@hotmail.com if you can help or if you know the right direction to point me in!

Mahalo!

Welcome to the forums.
If you can't get any takers here, give your local Airstream dealer a call, and see if you can make an appointment to have someone give you a new owner orientation. While they will probably charge you for their time, it will probably be money well spent.

Phil,

Holiday Travel Trailers in Albuquerque, NM are the Airstream Dealer. I would love to assist but I am just picking mine up and have never used one before!

Aloha Kakou Peabirds, Welcome aboard the forums, you will find lots of info and help around here.

I've resently been In touch with another new member ( Ms Tara ) that has just bought a newer used Bambi that is located in Albuquerque.

She has been in touch with the dealer there and has found them to be helpful from the distance. She is planning to go there to get her new hitch set up for her rig. If I can find her thread I'll get the detail of the dealer for you.

My brother has a 30' classic trailer also. It's so nice inside, but it does weigh on the high end of the line.

Have you prepared your tow vehicle to for the trip? Been able to hook up to the trailer to evaluate the hitch setup.

I do hope someone closer steps up to help you get acquainted with your new home, if not the dealer may be a good call.

All the best in getting to know your trailer and in preparing for your move.

Cheers Richard

I would contact your local WBCCI chapter in Albuquerque. The chapters continue to meet in the winter months and will be holding lunches and you don't have to be a member to get some advice and help. I guarantee you will find the local members to be more than helpful and generous. To find the contacts simply go to the airstream web site which will have a link to the Blue Beret which has a list of all the region and chapter activities and contacts

In mid-March, 2017, the Escapees RV Club will be running "Escapade" (their big annual rally) near Tucson, AZ. Before Escapade they run an EXCELLENT RV Boot Camp. At RVBC, all the sysytems found on a modern RV will be explained and demystified. I understand some insurance companies offer insurance discounts to RVBC graduates. Anyone new to RVing would benefit greatly from attending an RVBC. Other groups also offer RVBC but, in my opinion, Escapees have the best one and, you get it done in three days (or less). Mistakes with RVs are often expensive and, sometimes dangerous. Attending RVBC will be time and money VERY well spent! You can attend RVBC and not stay for the Escapade rally if time is an issue.

Welcome. We live in Albuquerque and purchased our first Airstream from Holiday Travel Trailers last March. They are a good family operation, have been in the business for many years, and were extremely helpful to us. Although I am not a seasoned Airstream owner, like many on this forum, I'd be glad to help as we own a 2016 25' Flying Cloud.

You might consider, Phil, moving you and your family into temporary living quarters, rather than directly into the Airstream.

It could be a very intense learning curve, and it sounds as if you have children.

Perhaps get it set up somewhere, spend some weekends doing transitional visits, learn the ropes...then go.

Just a thought.

Good luck, and thank you for your service.

We are Albuquerque based and are on our 2nd Airstream. If you need anything, let me know.
