1981 Excella 280 Starter problems

Hi all, just drove my 280 over the mountains no issues, stopped to fill up and the engine would not crank. All three batteries are charged, starter assist... but there is nothing happening. I had her towed to my property, replaced the starter and nothing changed. I checked power to the starter and its there, but still nothing is cranking. Before I have this towed to a shop I am looking for any clues from anyone that may have had this same problem? 1981 excella Chevy 454. Thanks

Bad ground. High resistance.

Worth looking at, thanks, I’m going to track all the wires from the starter back and try to find the fault.

I did, there is a second ford product starter solenoid not on the starter itself that has its own solenoid, but buried on top of the 454 in the back that I found and tracked the problem there. Long road with all new starter, ignition etc…all came down to a 15 $ part.

That's great news. I have also replaced that solenoid in the past. I have an '82 280 and I'm located in Maple Valley right now.

Nice, yea it took awhile to track it down but along the way upgraded the started and ignition so a little grease sweat and it all worked out. Nice looking 280, one year newer than my own.
