Ahhhhh

As I finish up the trim in the bathroom the edge of the vanity is driving me nuts.

We saved as much of the original laminate counter tops as possible (bathroom and dining table are original) but half the plastic edging was broken off. I was able to use the left over piece to fix one of the dining table leafs which was good but I'm failing at the rounded corners.

I bought a roll of the stuff from vintage trailer supply. It worked great in the kitchen, mitered corners etc, piece of cake

BUT

In the bathroom the original counter has a radius cut in the front corners, roughly 1.5" radius which is too tight for the trim to go around without the edges that lap over top and bottom from puckering. I've tried a heat gun, I've tried boiling water, I've tried little cuts (which looked bad). I've tried cutting the barbed area out every other half inch, I've cut out the barb in the entire corner.

I have enough for one more try at this. Any ideas?

Here's the stuff I'm talking about.

13/16" Lipped Table Edging (25' Pkg) the overlap (13/64) is the part giving me problems, but we need it there to be the least bit close to the original.

Here's an old photo just after the ebay sale (sorry too dark for photos tonight). When I got it most of the trim was gone.

I mentioned this in an earlier conversation we had regarding the dump valve plate I sent you.... I have a big roll of edging that is a 98% match to the original. Let me know if you need some

Table latches installed today and finally got the leg painted on it. I finished the hamper and got a coat of stain on it. Turned out pretty good. I also started the poly on the cabinets. First coat on the wardrobes and the refrigerator cabinet. Kitchen and twin beds tomorrow, plus second coat on what I did today. Love how it's starting to feel without so many nagging projects waiting on me.

Been following your progress these last few years. Our "first" was also a 63 Safari, I can really appreciate all the great work you've done, you have every right to be very proud.

Glad your enjoying your campground custodial adventure, sounds like it's working very well for you. Leisure enough to enjoy, busy enough to stay occupied.

It was nice seeing Scott last week and taking a first-hand look at his excellent project. I was surprised to see he has a new project in his driveway...

Roger it was awesome to see you again this year, we always look forward to you dropping by, especially when it's above freezing! Your work far surpasses what we can dream of doing but as my tool collection and experience grows so does my quality. Problem is I seem to find myself redoing things I've already done more and more lately.

It's been nearly 4 months since we were last on the forums, an insane amount of time for us. In that time we've been busy with school, but unexpectedly in November we made a huge decision. As you can see with the photo above (Roger and I in the driveway) our driveway was a mere 8'6" wide, with no land to do anything about it, and a tiny garage that hopelessly failed at providing room for tools and any projects.

We completely redid the house over the last 10 years, and had it in our heads that we would retire there. One Saturday morning in November I happened to be reading the paper and saw that a house I drive by taking the Airstream out to storage every time was for sale and had an open house. It was a really cool looking old house so we went to just be nosey. 2 days later we had an offer in on it, and just a few days after that we had our house on the market and sold. Needless to say, it's been a busy month, but we are settling into our new home, a 1910 stone farm house on 1 acre (surrounding area is filling in with homes). It has all the bedrooms on one floor, instead of kids split between the attic and basement, a 3 car garage with shop space and a loft, trailer storage, and lots of room for kids to play, including 1100 sf playroom on the 3rd floor. We're excited, but still unpacking, but looking forward to an exciting 2013.

Here's a picture of the new digs. Once the temps get back up above freezing fencing for a trailer storage area next to the garage goes in. Someday we hope to construct covered storage for it.

Overnight stay, absolutely, plenty of room for a whole freakin rally (ok that was probably not a good thing to mention). No sewer, we're on Septic, at least for now. If we hook up to city in the future, count on a dump station going in for sure!

Nice! It almost looks like you could get the Safari in the center bay of the garage if it didn't have the A/C on the roof.

If we gave up the roof air, and took out the storage loft we could, but would be very very tight, but yes we did seriously consider that. Still will be great having it at home where we can work on it easier and keep a better eye on it too.
