Scott, I would be very interested in obtaining a copy of those photos. I am more than willing to offset any expenses.

Brad - that one's definately a good candidate for vinyl graphics... Hopefully I'll find I have a straight on shot available. I was hoping to find the new CD's in my mailbox today, but alas, no... but I did get a box with zolatone and primer today!!
Mari was very clear that she was proud of her parents' work and her mom's photos and wanted their memories to live on in the airstream world. My plan is to send a copy of the files and DVD's to Joe (who made initial contact with her), and within a day or two of having the files in hand, have them up on a server for viewing/download for those that may want any or all of them. I also plan to have a set printed to photo paper and put them in albums to have with the trailer.
I also met Roger (and Roger) who were in town from Ephrata today visiting Wally (Flyrc) and found he may have more bathroom parts I need (tub trim parts etc). Great guy and working with Wally to pick up a few parts he needed.

Scott - I looked for some info on the man parting out the 1963 Trotter in the 2010 WBCCI Directory, only to find his published contact info is the same as he gave in the ad. Sorry.

more sanding
Not exciting, but managed to work a few hours and get some more things on the punch list done.
1. Sanded just over 7' linear feet of sheet metal, little wire wheel work on the edges but all the way down to bare metal anywhere the zolatone was ever painted (6 more feet left).
2. all existing rivets in those areas were drilled out and replaced, allowing me to get all the paint out, and hopefully not having to deal with popped rivets down the road (most are toast from years of a bad axle).
3. Went to Wally's and exchanged the white range for one he had out of his 64, which is the original 63 style, though its missing one burner and one burner is missing its tabs. I've got plenty of time to track down the pieces, I think it will be awhile before we're cookin in there.
4. patched 14 holes from various light fixtures, CB's, radios and the shelf that were drilled through the front endcap cabinet. One larger hole left to fiberglass and fill, then final sanding of the front end cap.
Here's a few pics from today, including the new to me range.

Scott, I have the exact same range to part out. Same color even. Let me know exactly what you need, and if you want any extra parts.

Thanks Rich! I just sent you a PM. I'm sure there will be a few parts I'll need to get it back into tip top condition. Hope to get it out of my truck and into the garage tomorrow and give it a once over, and then I'll get a better idea.
Thanks again!

Great work Scott, you're still cruising on along.
I just looked at your "wanted parts" list and saw the bathroom heat register cover listed. Do you have any example pictures of that part? I'm not certain what it is.
If I can find it, I have the grate that came from my bathroom heat duct. I won't be using a forced-air furnace on my coach, so it is extra. So if that's what you need, I can go look for it. Just let me know.

He kept the copies of the emails and took down my number in case the state called with problems.
I think I'll wait to mail the plates for repainting until I have officially received word that nobody has changed their minds and a new title reflecting the new plate number arrives at my door step.
I'm hoping the next news I'll have on the matter is good.

Hi Scott, Is there any progress on getting a vintage plate on your trailer?

I'm waiting for my new title and registration in the mail. I never did hear anything back from the licensing office or DMV, so I'm hoping to see approved paperwork in the mail anyday.... Then I need to send my plate in to be painted. But so far I think it is good news.

I spent a few hours today, the plan was to get the front 1/3 of the trailer all finished, rivets in, all paint prep done except final cleaning. Instead I spent about 2 hours prepping and reassembling the trim around jelousie window. Man there are so many little pieces of metal around there. I did remove all the trim parts around it, resealed all the joints of the window to skin, sanded all the parts and reassembled.
Am posting from my wife's computer, received photos from Mari today and was in the process of formatting the pictures to go on our webspace when my computer went to the blue screen of death and I'm trying to get it back up and running. No worries those pictures are backed up (lots of stuff I don't want to lose though). So as soon as I'm back up I'll have all nearly 900 photos up in thumbnail form in galleries where you can download the full size files. Some really cool stuff.

dumb dumb dumb me. I hadn't done my back up recently (like 6 months) and turns out my hard drive crashed. They said they think they can recover some data, but not sure what yet. One file they are having big problems with is my email stuff, which just kills me, because I had over a hundred saved emails from the Tolle's daughter, Joe about the caravan, emails from people who had helped, plus many of my saved photos for reference on restoration from other 63 owners etc.
I'll know tomorrow just how expensive the crash was and what they were able to salvage. Best shop in town is working on it. Keeping my fingers crossed...
Hope to be back up soon.

Good luck with the restore
Scott-
There's hope. We had a hard drive at work fail pretty badly. We were able to recover a significant amount of data from it. There was a lot of work stitching things back together, but it sounds well worth it in your case.
Good luck!

Arrgghhh! I hate it when that happens. Good luck with the recovery effort!
Actually, I have not had that personally happen to me, but after over a decade of living without a backup, I got a USB external hard drive over a year ago and set it up to back up automatically each night in the middle of the night (as long as it is plugged in and the computer is on). Or I can force a back up at any time and it takes only a couple of minutes once the initial backup is done. I am only backing up my data, not the full operating system and software, but I think you can set that up too of you want.
USB external hard drives are cheap insurance (less than $100 depending upon the size needed). Get one for peace of mind.

Joe thanks for the info, that's the same advice we got today from the computer shop. They have reportedly recovered some content and transferred to the new drive, I hope to get it back at lunch tomorrow and will know more, then hope to get back up and get those photos copied and posted.

Well, if nothing else Scott, you've reminded me at least that I should be doing a back up, tonight. It's been a while and I'd hate to lose what I have.
Good luck with the salvage operation. As a note I bought an Omega external drive to use for back up and it was really cheap. I did have an auto back up but for some reason I can't remember turned it off. Time to turn it on again.

I was unable to post these to the server I planned to. Space issues were too limited. In the meantime you can find the photos here. I plan to organize them better, into seperate galleries by country, but enjoy. If you wish to use them for anything other than your own enjoyment (publications etc) please let me know and I'll get you in contact with the family for their blessing.
Around the World Caravan Photos by the Tolles pictures by sgoranson - Photobucket
I'm still uploading as I post this, about 300 of the 800 photos uploaded at full resolution, will likely take a few hours.
