"Rikki" is a prized American vintage
1964 Bambi II Airstream from the hire fleet of 'Airstream Dreams'. She is 17 inches long and, we believe the only one of its kind in Australia. Rikki has been named after her previous celebrity owner, Rikki Rockett (drummer of US glam rock band, Poison), who purchased her in 2005. The Bambi is Airstream's most legendary model; New York's Museum of Modern Art even has one in their collection!
She was first bought by the Logue family in California on 7th March
1964 and has been well traveled ever since. She has been to Nevada's Black Rock Desert, Puerto Penasco in Mexico and has journeyed 1,660kms from Las Angeles to Walla Walla in Washington in 2006. She has appeared in various magazines across the US, including two features in 'Airstream Life' and has also been used in photo shoots in Australia since her shipping to Melbourne in August 2013.
Prior to Bloom's purchase of her in June 2014, she has hosted guests for 'glamping' weekends on the Mornington Peninsula foreshore, been a highlight of Airstream Club Australia's 2nd ever rally in Blairgowrie, and travelled to the Fleurieu Peninsula (South Australia) and the Grampians (Victoria) in February 2014.
Here it is seen at the 2016 Disability, Ageing & Lifestyle Expo.
Almost all of the original fixtures have been kept, apart from the electrical switches inside, which have been switched over to australian ones and additional stop/turn lights have been mounted on the bumper so that it complies with Australian regulations.
Stay tuned for more!
