Another Bambi II Owner

Just dropping in to say hi. My dad's has had his '64 Bambi II since the early 70's and our family has gone on so many camping trips in that thing when we were little. I'll have to post some pics but the only thing he's really done to it is add a fan in the top vent. The fridge, converter, water pump, other electrical components, are original and work fine. The floors been recovered in tile and the couches have been recovered. He's even got the radio and CB for it in the garage!

He's been getting offers on his trailer for quite some time so I knew there had to be something special about it. I saw the forum here and sure enough I was right. Only 800 units made?? The last four digits of his serial number read 0158 and the S at the front makes it a California built trailer I believe.

He's thinking about restoring the aluminum on the outside. He did it many years ago but it's all oxidized again. What's the best way to go about doing this??

Welcome to the forums. For info on exterior resotation and polishing, use the search tool and search for polishing. There are endless conversations about it on this forum. Sounds like a fun project.

What about restoring the "Airstream" name plate on the front of the trailer? Is there a type of paint to restore it?

You can buy new ones from Airstream Dreams. Just thought I'd let ya know before you went to the trouble of painting the old ones.
