Is this the listing you speak off?

1964 Bambi II AIRSTREAM TRAILIER SUPER NICE! LAND YACHT EXCELLENT CONDITION 1964 Bambi II AIRSTREAM TRAILIER SUPER NICE! LAND YACHT EXCELLENT CONDITION | eBay

If so the seller has changed the listing to say "1964" but states that is was origionally titled as a "1965" in Georgia.

You can see how many people are jumping at the chance to start the bidding at $30k...

The seller has relisted the Bambi II, same story and price. I think he lives in a fantasy world.

With that house door knob and deadbolt on the door, they're going to have a hard time clipping the door in the open position. That's going to do some damage to the exterior, too, every time the door gets pushed into it.

$30,000? I think not.

Bambi II's were only made in 1964. The title may say 1965 if it was sold & licensed in early 1965, but it's a 1964 model.

I don't care who supposedly owned it at some point it time...in that condition, it's over priced at half the opening bid IMO!

That trailer could be this one after a little paint and leather was applied
1964BambiII_SO17410118
Personally, I much prefer the original look with the fabric and wood finish.

The trailers are very similar and I suspect it is the same unit. The A/C units match along with the flooring and the slightly sprung main door.

Good spocking Richard - I too think it's the same trailer. Too bad they painted it, changed the upholestry & "touched up" the polish job...it looked better and I would say was worth more "before". What a shame...

Interesting that they re-listed it at exactly the same price. I guess they figure they'll eventually hook someone with more money than sense?

Well somebody did buy it from Pamela A. It is a very nice unit and has been valued at the original asking price. Is that BAD? it only helps out the value of your AS. I would say the price of a quality AS is what you pay for. If it is an routed out hulk, then you can do what most Hobbiest do, work on it. Yes it needs some work but, it still an nice unit. Good bones at 48 years old is hard to come by. The history of the prior owners is very well documented.
The frame is rust free and the under belly is in and shinny. All it needs now is to unscrew the rear under belly and plumb in a gray water tank in the spring. For being in Malibu (on occasional use) for five years and now on the central coast of Cali., I thinks this unit is a beauty and will out shine others.
Sorry other negative post are given aire.
After all its about the life style of the AS and not about the A$.
Ralph Lorens AS sold for a charity auction for $15000.oo Plus, does that make the new owner BAD?
Just saying.
This thread is dead any way, if you got any positive comments then I'm all ears.
Over and out.

It is a nice looking Airstream even if a bit over priced. For many buyers it is about the dollars when the discussion is about a trailer for sale. Is it yours?

Nice unit, Over priced?

It is my wife's and my unit, since May 2012. Over priced? If only you now what was payed for it. Then you or others would have a bases to say it was over priced.
As I posted it was not the asking price, and that should not matter. To have small part of AS history is the important thing. As I posted, if a "HIGH PRICE" was paid, that is only a benefit to other AS owners. I'd love someone to come into my neighborhood a pay for a house for 10% over the areas market value, because they want to be in the neighborhood. That only brings up the property value.
I am very glad for this forum and the restoration rallies that I have attended to help me with the "how to knowledge" to build and refurbish the little things that needs to be done on the unit. Fresh window and door seals, hardware, frame preservation, insulation and belly pan replacement. I have found I can do it.
Thanks to all the prior posts from ppl that have taken the larger steps before me to do what needs to be done to rebuild a iconic piece of mid-century travel history. Their posts have been a big help. I can only hope this unit of ours will add to the fine history of the AS life style.
I am am not one to post every step of my improvement journey. I am happy to send along my pictures as the project is completed, I know that will not add to my "rivet counts", however I hopes that helps other in time.

I, for one, like your story of Pammy's Bambi II! (now yours, of course) And I like that you paid what others think is too much (cause then mine might be worth more, but I'm never selling it anyhow!) Welcome to the forum....sorry for the bad beginnings, but this really is a nice group! Hope my Bambi II is as shiny as your someday!

Pammy's Bambi II

Becky,
Thanks for your reply. I have been following your thread and have learned a lot from it. Thank you. Your post from today really gives me some ideas that will work for LP pluming and heat. I'll keep my eye on replies to your post about concerns about LP plumbing inside the unit. Still, looks like a fine job.
I would love a page number for your installation of a gray water tank. After all you have 23 pages. Any help there would be appreciated.

When all is said and done the only person you have to please is your wife, and hopefully that then brings you pleasure. Hope you had an opportunity to get your Bambi II on the road this summer with more miles scheduled in 2013.

My gray tanks were installed after the new frame was made. The only salvageable thing on my little Bambi II was the shell. So, for your trailer, you would have to take the belly pan off & have the gray tank (or tanks) installed from underneath. Vintage Trailer Supply sells tanks that will fit inside of a 4" frame so it doesn't hang below the belly pan. Sadly, your little guy has a 3" frame & the belly pan would have to be modified for the extra 1". It's a pretty daunting job! The little blue boy is a pretty simple solution, unless you have a bit of time to dedicate to the gray tank (or tanks--I have two tied together down there) Good luck!
