Well I worked on my Caravel all afternoon. I removed the lower section of the fiberglass bath. What a job ! The PO had put expanding foam under the shower pan to hold it up. I guess the fact that there was no real floor left didn't occur to them. Just the top layer of plywood is all that remains in the back of the trailer. I sure hope I can get the enclosure out the door. I am going to have someone else refinish the fiberglass. I just don't have the time to do it. I have pics from todays progress posted in the members photos section. I stopped there. I had to regroup. Now that I am down to removing the rotted floor I have to organize and store everything that came out so I don't have to dig thru everything to put it back in. What came out first goes to the back of the attic and so on. I am wondering how to get my black tank off my shower pan tho. Anyone have any ideas ? The toilet mount that goes on top of the tank was cracked, now it is in 2 pieces. I hope I can get a new one. If I can get it out of the black tank, otherwise it looks like I may be getting a new black tank too. It looks like I may have to cut it off. I sure don't want to buy a tank too. I am nearing the end of the "taking it apart phase". Just a few more steps then it is repair time.

Does your black tank sit above or below the floor? If it is above the floor, is it a soft, thick plastic, or a hard (ABS) plastic?

It seems like a hard abs plastic. My tank sits on top of the floor. Right under the commode.

I do not have a 60's vintage however it sounds like what I found in my '75.

Yep, the bath is back in. 3 months, 13 days. It was a chore to get it back in since I had done a little re-engineering. But it looks great now. I did scratch it in a couple spots while attaching it. I think I can buff it out, however. I still need to run the sewer lines, finish up the water lines, and attach the toilet. The black tank fit good, if I did it again I would make it 1 inch thinner to make room for the water lines, but other than that my new black tank fits great ! Very happy with it.

I had to finalize this thread. One more hurdle crossed.

It sure came out easier than it went in

Chris, Your bathroom looks great. I'm convinced that as you remove parts from the inside of the trailer it shrinks just a little bit...

I look forward to seeing the lil trailer all done. Lee

Sure is weird to see the bathroom sitting there without any closets or curtain around it. Looks like camping in your trailer might be a little awkward with guests until you get that fixed

Well the rv store had my flange seal in stock ! Happy day. The commode is mounted and ready to go. The bowl holds water and it flushes great. That 3/4 inch piece of marine ply under the toilet/on top of the black tank worked well to stabilize the fiberglass that the toilet sits on.

wow, looks great. I just looked at your whole photo album. got a couple of questions:

1: how did you get those large sections of floor in place?

2: you mentioned "apex industries" as the manufacturer of your replacement tank. got a website for them? looks like a pretty decent price for that custom job...alot less than I've seen quoted from others.

Nice work. I'm always impressed with someone who takes on such a major restoration. I looked at all of your photos and looks like your making excellent progress. Looking forward to seeing the finished result.
