Serial Number?

Post the number here and someone will be able to find out your model and year. If listed as the serial number on your title it should be the Airstream vin #. Ed

Welcome to the world of Airstreams and to the forums.

I suggest you go to

Manuals, Airstream Travel Trailers, Touring Coaches | Airstream

There you will find two selections that translate VIN (serial) number into year and model--one for pre 1980 and another for post 1980. Oddly, the Airstream company website lists this info under the "service" pulldown in the "manuals" selection.

Meanwhile, you've joined a great group of Airstream enthusiasts here. As jdalrymple said above, we love pictures.

Use the Post Reply selection (can't post pics in the Quick Reply version) and select the "attach" icon at the top. That will open a window to upload your pics.

I am having a hard time loading my pictures. The SN is 6102 made in LA, California. It looks like it might be a 1952 cruiser.
Thanks again!

Keep trying on the pics. Might be different if you're using the iPad app or something. Desktop version works like I said--click the "attach" paperclip. The "browse" selection will let you access any pics that are on your computer. Select the pics you want, then select "upload."

Maybe someone with more forum and computer expertise than have will see this thread and steer you in the right direction.

I should be so lucky as to find and buy an Airstream so old I could not identify it. Good problem to have.

All that information is on the title. If you do not have the title you should make getting it the very next thing you do. In most states you do not own the trailer until you have a clear title.

Except NJ where it is oddly a non titled state. A notarized note works.

Nice!

Has the trailer been in New Mexico for most of its history? If so, you may have minimum problems with the rusted frame and rotten floor issues many people encounter.

tbschof: go to VINTAGE AIRSTREAMS PHOTO ARCHIVES I am pretty sure you have a 1952
25' Cruiser which might have a ladder frame. CA numbers that year 6079 to 6205 with 6078 being the last 1951 and a small overlap for 1953 at 6200 to 6206 being in doubt. You can view 6093 and 6095 and 6202 by going to the site I mentioned. Would love to know how you found it, how original is the inside, and , if not being too nosey, was it expensive?

Welcome!

Welcome tbs! We just bought our first A/S in Feb of this year. We live north of you in Taos. Ours is a '70 Safari and we haven't gotten to pull it yet except to bring it home. Working on making it problem free right now. What a fantastic find. If you don't mind my asking how did you happen to find such a treasure? Tom

Thanks everybody! We actually just happened upon it at a local auction for $500. It's in kind of rough shape but it should be a fun project! I don't know it's history though, so I'm working on tracing it back.

$500? Ha!

Just for the record, you didn't "buy" it. You stole it, and you just bribed them $500 not to call the cops. Screamin' deal!! Congratulations!!

The very first issue you should address, is to make the trailer "waterproof".
