I have a 1972 overlander and I'm replacing and up dating everything so what would you folks recommend for a good water pump with brand and model ? I'm in the dark on this subject

Bob, I have absolutely no idea what water pump I have in my '74, but it does a fine job, although it's just a little noisy. I'll look at it in the morning and tell you make and model...

Just about any of the Shur Flow's will work good, any of their 3 GPM should keep you happy. SHURFLO 3.0 Revolution Water Pump gets good reviews. No need to spend $150+ like ive seen at the RV store. If you're replacing an original pump you'll probably have to do a little plumbing changes to get the new pump in. Consider getting the pump silencing hoses, and a small shur flow accumulator. The hoses reduce vibrations transmitted, and the accumulator reduces pressure surge in the plumbing and smooth's out and quiets the pump operation. Plus it gives some pressure surge volume for the entire trailer system.

If you want to splurge for a 4GPM pump, but it has some issues since it's a bypass pump, wants to run all the time, and if there's no flow instead of shutting off it recirculates the water back to its own inlet. So it needs some adjustment to get it working right.

Virtually all the RV pumps from Shurflo and Flojet work well. 3 Gpm is generally enough. I have not been impressed with the variable speed pumps. They cost a lot more and I have not seen them work much better. So, the low cost ones are fine.
