If getting a replacement tank, try and get one without the internal sensing probes (2015 and later as our 2015 came with SeeLevel) that were required with the micro-sense system. The SeeLevel uses a "stick-on" to the side of the tank. Reason being is that is one less possible failure/leak point down the road.

That’s the plan as I am up grading to the See Level system.
Also looking at adding TANK HEATERS while I’m in there. Thoughts?

Been busy!

I have been busy... Not with our trailer but with my 90yr old mother. She had emergency surgery 6 hours worth March 20. Been a tough time, but she is improving still.

Any way I have finally completed our first two mods. First one was the bathroom privacy mod. My wife found some window cling to put on the lower window.

And the second mod is the fans for the fridge compartment. I just got them installed and started the fridge on gas. After a short time the thermostat turned the fans on. Seem to be working properly . Thanks to the 23D thread and specifically RFP, I completely used both your ideas! More to mods to come in time. Mom is not out of the woods yet between her care and work, spare time to play with trailer is hard to come by. No big rush any way.

Looking good there. Tinker when you can. I think it may be what I love most about our trailer
Prayers for your Mother for sure. Prayers for healing and comfort, and prayers for you and your peace during this time.

Our fridge isn't working. Hoping one of you smart people can help....

Was working fine on our last trip. Been at home for 5 weeks now (4.5 of which I was on jury duty! ouch!). We were outside today, prepping to leave on another trip, and yowza...no fridge.

We're plugged into our house. We turned the fridge onto "auto" and we can hear a clicking noise outside. Assuming that's the noise it makes as it searches for electric vs propane. Eventually the clicking stops, and the "check" light comes on.

So we turned on the propane, and tried it on propane, and the same thing happened.

Don't hear any fan or noise in the fridge, and it's not cooling.

None of the breakers were tripped. All the fuses look good.

We flipped the breaker switch for the fridge, just to be sure, and when we turned it back on, the GFI light came on, and then turned off. Is it supposed to do that, or is that the problem, and if so, what is the problem?!

Thanks for your help. Hoping this is an easy fix.

Here are some pictures of the finished garage lift. It works great and I was able to put everything up top in the attic easily. Even generator, and snow blower, etc.

It will lift 800lbs. For the heavier wheeled stuff, I needed to use a piece of plywood as a ramp. Pretty easy to do, if interested let me know I’ll share the details. Just Pm me. I posted a quick video link at bottom as well.

Wouldn't include myself as one of the smart ones here.. but had a similar thought when I first picked up my trailer, tried it after 2 hours and was warm. But left it plugged in overnight and next day it was cold. Assume you know that, but its the best I can offer

Nice job there Rich. Just picked up a lot of new space to store "stuff".
Would have loved that if my Dad had it when I was a kid.... (may want a pistol safe to store the winch controller in...
If our next home has the garage under the family room/kitchen, one of those lifts will be going in for groceries ..... maybe in a closet next to the fireplace to also load wood from...

I’m no it’s for all refrigerators, As I have not yet had refrigerator problems, praise the Lord. I can offer this, the clicking noise you hear Is the Igniter trying to light your pilot you may have to bleed the line for a time to get the refrigerator to like you can do this by lighting and eye on the cooktop.

Yep. We turned it on a day or two prior, and went out there yesterday, and it hadn't cooled at all. Have not had this happen before.

We were able to light the cooktop without any problem, so it seems to just be the fridge.

I got a couple other suggestions on another thread here, so will go out this morning to try those.......

Well....NEVER MIND!! The fridge is now working.

It's now set to auto, and it's not triggering the "check" light, like it was yesterday. And, it's cooling.

No idea what was going on. Possibly just needed time to reset or something?

Anyway...happy camper here.

Sorry for the panic!!!

I enjoyed talking to you on the phone when you were trying to decide if you were going to pull the trigger on you 23D FC. You take care of your mom now there is plenty of time to become an Airstream Aficionado. Projects will be many, enjoy them all.

I've found that if I'm starting the fridge up from an extended warm period, and specifically if it's going to start running on gas (and the gas has been off), I don't get the "check" light if I light a burner on the stove and let it run for 30 seconds.

Not sure if it's air in the gas lines and the fridge doesn't move enough gas volume to get it out, or what, but I've found that I don't get the error if I do that first.

Ronnie, that’s a bummer. Can’t believe it’s only been 3-4 years and there is a leak.

I would be careful taking it down and be ready for pictures. My bet is that a screw was drilled into it. I have seen this before at work. Sometime it can take several years for the screw to leak after it’s been running down the road. If it’s a puncture or a small hole, you might be able to repair the tank.
A few years ago, I needed to install a small shower in the laundry room of mom and dad's house. To do so, I needed to pull off the baseboard trim. The house was about 4 years old. When I popped off a length of baseboard, many of the thin trim nails remained, just pulling through the trim board. One of them was very rusty, which was odd. I pulled it out with pliers, and immediately had water leaking everwhere. Removed some drywall, and discovered the trim nail had been driven into a pvc plumbing line, but had held for four years. Just a tiny bit of rust on it. Had I not had to install that shower, the nail surely would have rusted out and there would have been a leak eventually.

So yeah...a screw driven through the floor or somewhere near the top of the tank could have held for a few years, but has finally rusted out, or simply shifted and started to leak. What a pain!

Freshwater tank

I found tank from Dixie RV in AL. Cost was $115 plus shipping. Also ordered new SeeLevel system to install during swap out. I had originally ordered the tank from Airstream supply but they canceled my order without notice and did not refund my money so I had to file complaint through PayPal to get refund.
I am planning to documet the whole tank change out and determine what caused the leak.
I will post what I find out

So, here's a quick, easy, and inexpensive 'mod' that's actually worth doing...

I added a little 'prop' to the lift-up vanity mirror and it's so cool. I dug around on the interwebs and found a 'prop' that looked promising (here 'tis: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

Amazon delivered yesterday around noon, and by one o'clock I was done (uncharacteristically quick for me!).

Installation Dimensions to follow...
