Thanks Rob! Your Mods are the gold standard here. The pantry pull out shelf is next on our list. I've been thinking about the dinette table mod also. My better half did the staging for the photos.

Looks great. I think it’s Awesome you reused that teak table. Keep up the good work guys. The 23D thread will always set the standard for the rest of the forum.

Thanks! Re-using the table is part of the project I like the best. When I looked into buying teak wood, it was so expensive. The wood I got from the table is worth so much more than $15! I even re-used the stainless screws from the table. Here are few other photos of the table.

New family member
Hey,
I've been following the chat for awhile but didn't comment because I didn't own one.
Well, I'm traveling across country to pick up my new (to me) 23D in CA.
So, I look forward to joining this great 23D family thread.
Oh, if you live near the central belt line of America and have some free knowledge I can pick up along my trip, let me know.
I hope everyone is staying healthy.

Better than excellent. To think this came from a bargain bought table. And nice craftsmanship.

City Water Inlet Mod to Avoid Tension/Cracking
Hey guys, hope all is well. Sold my house early April and am living in 23 feet for a bit! Did some off-grid boondock distancing for three weeks in the desert of Utah's Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. Had some business back in Park City so I've been driveway moochdocking for 10 days...Life is good (and cheap!!!) Eventually will be building a cool small home when I find the right lot, but for now, in the Aluminum Tent 3!
Anyway, had my city water inlet (which I RARELY use--even if water is available, I just use my fresh tank) crack yet again and had a slow leak. There is pressure back up into the fitting from the water pump even if not using a city connection. Decided enough is enough, and did a mod with a braided hose instead of the solid PEX Connection, and added a valve to isolate the inlet assembly from the system.
I posted it over in the plumbing section.

Peter, thats awesome, i envy you being above to do that. This dang COVID thing has really messed up so much. I feel for those that have lost jobs or loved ones. My issues aren’t that bad, but running a company has been a challenge and so many people depend on us to make the right calls. We are blessed that our services are essential, and the business has stabilized and we are well. I hope everyone is doing well and stay well and safe,
Hoping to get out and camp soon...

Thanks Rich I feel very fortunate to be able to do this. I'm in the real estate business and it usually slows in April in a ski town, but this year ended a month early, and things really hit the skids. Had one nice deal in the pipeline which closed. I can't imagine the hardship for so many who are wondering how to even buy food and essentials. I've been managing my business from the road and being 'virtual' for now, and that isn't going to just turn around any time soon I don't think.
Hope you and all the rest of you guys on this forum are doing well, and hope everyone can start getting out on the road soon.

Stayin' at home stuff (!)
Even though I am in really good health, I am a thousand years old, So, we're taking no chances with the nastiness going around... nope, staying at home. It's a really good thing that after 60 years of marriage, we still really do enjoy each other; even if it is 24/7.
So, while trying to stay at least a tiny bit productive given my super-limited mobility, I've tackled a couple of things that have been on my when-I-get-around-to-it list.
First, and not all that interesting, I spent some time spiffying up the business end of the Porsche... getting it ready for this year's car show "season" ... which won't actually happen.
Next, I turned my attention to replacing the "euro" hinges on the curved under-cabinet doors with piano hinges. Knowing better than to put screws into the end grain of plywood - especially the "light" ply used by Airstream - I routed the edges of the doors and the cabinet sides and inlaid a strip of white ash (great screw-holding stuff). I used anodized aluminum piano hinges... I thought they had a good Airstream "look."
The best part of the project was the figuring out how to make and use jigs for my router... I love that part of any project.
Anyway, I'm all done and it works perfectly and looks pretty good too. I was lucky in that the brass latches lined up even after putting on the new hinges.
Well, that's about all from here!

Looks good but I see a little carbon build up in that engine. Better let me take it out for a spin and clear that up .
Like you I've been married for 48+ yrs and now doing many things around the house & AS (23 FB). Made a new table for it in which I'm going to put 110vac and USB ports in the end to save bending way down o up for a outlet.
Next was I build a 16'x16' pergola over the wife's flower garden.
Now building a garage for the AS 22'x24'. & 10'H to 12"H so it fits comfortably. Those 2x12x12' aren't getting any lighter.
Have a great summer and keep up the great work.

Sure, John, come on down and we'll take it out for "an Italian tune up!" Probably just scare ourselves.
Wow, you do some serious projects, I'm mightily impressed by your initiative and energy, and your strength too for horseing around the "big timber" .... Post some photos.

It's been many years sense I've been on a race track but it's always in the bloodstream.
I'll have the Mrs take pic's then figure out how to post. I have those directions written down somewhere. Just have to find them. Probably in the here after. That's when I go into a room and say " what am I here after".

Outside shower replacement
Good morn, didn’t I read on here where some one replaced the out side shower with a new one. I have a 2015 23d and the outside shower is a pain to service. I take the shower head and hose off after I winterize in fall. I just connected the hose and shower head back up and one it’s hard to get lined up and then I can’t get a good grip on it to tighten enough to stop it from leaking. I put this one in my cart at Amazon and was wondering who used it and was it a simple swap out?
Thanks Scott

Happy Sunday! Yep, this very thing has been on my 'to do' list for quite some time. A few of my Casita friends did this mod to their otherwise-pretty-much-useless outdoor shower. As I recall, it received glowing reviews. Yes, the swap out should be super easy on the 23D. Go for it.

OK, both of ya!

I understand. Way back in the late-70s ~ early-80s I was active in PCA club racing with pretty good success. But those days are long gone, and given the relative rarity of this car (number 40 of only 62 built), it's not about to get any track time... nope, I've got to keep it in concours condition until I need nursing home money (probably day after tomorrow!).

OK, I take it back... This is the stuff my Casita friends used. I'm nut sure how they are different; other than price.
