Yeah, its not too hot up here (Minnesota) today.

So, if I swap out the stock fan with an aftermarket fan (or two) and leave the original thermostat, it will still only come on when very warm out?

I'm not sure if the odor issue (burnt caramel) is the same regardless of whether its running on LP or electricity. if the source doesn't impact the smell, then what good will fans that only come on during extremely high heat help me mitigate the odor?

BTW, if I do get a fan, I might splurge and get this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ROUNPT13&psc=1

... as it looks like it will be easier to do a professional looking installation.

Yes that’s correct. The thermostat button mounted to the condenser cuts fans on when it gets a certain temp. That’s how mines wired, but I did relocate my thermostat button to be closer to the hottest spot on the condenser. I’ll try to get you a pic of the location.

Did you notice a big difference after the fan install?

I do not have a fan therefore no thermostat either. I really like your big fan and duplex outlet idea!

It really moves the air and since you vent out the top the “draft” the fan will create should get that heat moving up and out.
Remember the cooling of the condenser is what cools the fridge. The more effective you can cool the ammonia back down the colder the fridge coils will be.
I also added a homemade fan inside the fridge that helps move air around inside the fridge. I made mine but you can buy them online.

I have been using this inside refrigerator fan to circulate the air, works on two batteries works for near 30 days 24 hours a day and doesn’t drain precious house battery. Not fancy but practical for about $22.00.

Awesome. Every thread needs a Villain.

P.S> I ordered Rivnuts instead of jack nuts. I read they were for aviation and had coating like grade 8 bolts so safe for aluminum.
So talking about overkill.

Did you put this fan in the refrigerator or behind the unit? Amazon reviews suggest in the fridge itself.

Fridge insulation

Ok so super easy and awesomely effective Fridge MOD.
Airstream only uses a thin wiper style gasket down the sides of the fridge with nothing on top to seal around the fridge. This short coming allows the entire fridge and compartment to be bathed in the hot air produced by the fridge. This hot air is what we are all trying to get rid of by using fans. This open air space also allows the heat to be transferred to the inside of the trailer through the heating of the walls. My closet beside the fridge was always super hot inside. This install dropped the closet wall temp 8.2 degrees and the other wall also 8.2 degrees. See photos below and asked questions if needed.

Nice, like this approach, seems easy and should also bolster fumes penetration and air flow with fans installed. On the list and cheap!!

Rob, see pic above, 5/8 inch foam package

Question, do you think it’s an issue by blocking off air circulation?
