Good friend of mine send me a photo today from south Florida on an interstate highway ....

It is a photo from behind of A fairly new AIRSTREAm trailer , and it appears to have no windows on the drivers side ....

and no rear window at all!!!

Spooky looking unit!!!

Does anyone know if AIRSTREAM made such a trailer ???

We were in JC earlier this year and saw many trailers outside the new factory (in the fenced lot) without windows. We figured they were having supply issues since there were so many. They had rear windows but no side windows. Click image for larger version

I'd venture they are custom orders for places like AutoCamp which have custom interiors that are more like a hotel room

Yes, those are Autocamp trailers. We have seen a few in Jackson Center on every visit for the last few years. They must have built hundreds of those by now.

No idea about the one the OP posted about, though.

My dealer had one with the door on the street side, a rear hatch, and wood stringers throughout the shell. Probably be great for a high tech inspection trailer. Fiber? High speed communications?

I believe the models without windows are intended for the Meth Lab industry.

HA! That brings back memories. In early September we stayed at a kinda sketchy looking private CG in Missouri. When I searched for their wifi, the one that popped to the top of the list was "MethMobile". Yikes. We beat it out of there pretty early in the morning.

Most likely an empty shell destined for someplace like timeless travel trailers or other third-party do you customize for a promotional trailer or tradeshow boutique etc.

See this :

So there are other customizers besides Ultimate Airstream in Oregon.

For some reason I thought Ultimste was the only factory authorized affiliate that could get unfinished shells.

My first thought was that there were openings but no windows...driving down the highway. Duh...on me.

I visited Ultimate Airstream recently and saw a windowless shell they were working on for Oris, the high end watch maker. It had doors fore and aft on the curb side, and between those two, a long top opening hatch. Inside was beautiful cabinetry for showing off their products. A friend saw the first of three at the Concourse de Elegance in Pebble Beach. I believe the one I saw was number two.

If you’re ever in the Portland area, stop by Ultimate. They do amazing work.

Here’s an interesting note: Ultimate is owned by Airstream Adventures, which has dealerships in Seattle, Portland (where the headquarters and Ultimate is), two in the SF Bay Area and one in the Boise, ID area. An Airstream empire.

I've seen where wealthy folks & celebrities order shells & have them customized ...might be one of those I gather.

The Auto Camp trailers are custom built to have windows on only the passenger side, front and rear. You can stay in an Airstream at the Auto Camps which, I believe are located in California and Cape Cod. Maybe some other places now, too.
