New Ccd's: 19' & 25'

We've been searching for more info on these 2 new models. Nothing on the AS website yet.

In these forums we found quite a bit on the 25' but almost nothing on the 19'.

Can anyone confirm for sure that it has the same floorplan of the 19' Bambi but with CCD interiors?

What colours is it available? Specs?
Pricing? $37,793?

Anyone out there has it?

Which dealers have them? any on the east coast?

Cheers
Kimili

I heard nothing but rumor. If what I heard was correct though, the 16' CCD is called the CCD/Bambi?!

Bambi = what length?

Prior to the reintroduction of the Bambi back in '99, the Bambi branding was the 16' model. Of course this was in the days where EVERY A/S model had a unique name (one of Wally's edicts). The 19' model was the Globe Trotter in those days. It came in both a single or tandem axle version.

I have seen a 2004 price list from A/S that shows ONLY a 16' CCD Bambi. The 19' versions are labeled Safari (ie std trim or CCD). The very early 2002 production 19' A/S carried the Safari badging, but then A/S had a change of heart and send new lettering to all the dealers with those Safari-badged 19 footers and had then change them to say Bambi. I think the logic was that Bambi was going to be the single axle product line while Safari was the tandem axle of the entry level trim. Maybe A/S is returning the Bambi branding to the 16'...who knows we may see the return of the classic naming.

Airstream has messed with the branding of the product line so much over the last 20 years, that about the only brand name they have left untouched is the Airstream name.

BTW, on another forum, it was posted by some who claimed to have seen the 19CCD that is was identical in layout to the current 19' but with the exposed aluminum interior, the black laminate cabinets, the backlit upper cabinets and the CCD fabric/color schemes. Given that the 25' CCD indeed turned out to be the same makeover of the 25 Safari/Classic, this would make sense. To see pics of the 25CCD goto

Where did you see the price list? I have asked A/S to send me one, but don't yet have it. Did the one you've seen have options as well?

Thanks...

Since my lust for this 19' Bambi CCD knows no bounds, I shall share with you what I have heard from a few AS dealers:

List price close to $38.000.

Floor plan will be indentical to Bambi 19' non-CCD.
(One person thought that the bath might be a wet-type bath as in the larger CCD's, but they can't confirm this.

Options available as of now:

Interior color choices: Blue streak, Lemon Grass, and Hazard Orange.

CD changer, electric hitch, spare tire and mount, 3 piece stone guard, and stainless wrap protectors.

It is uncertain that an option of a black flush, fantastic fan, aquajet pump will be listed.

It was concluded that AS will do just about any reasonable option....for the right amount of money!

Supposedly in the next few weeks, AS will have available new literature...uncertain whether this means a whole new catalog or what.

19" Bambi CCD"

I started this thread mainly because a very helpful and friendly member of this forum, who has just recently purchased the 25' CCD, has posted a 2004 price list of the Lithia Springs, GA AS dealer which indicates the 19' as:

19' International CCD Bambi - $37,793.

This confused me and sent me on a wild chase. I called just about all the AS dealers on the East coast and none of them had even heard of it...then again most of them had no clue the 25' CCD was out too.

Some argued it would only be released in April 2004, without believing me when I told them that someone I knew about had already bought one and enjoyed his maiden trip with it, a couple of weekends ago!

I'd really love to see some pics of this new 19' International CCD.

Anyone has any or has seen it at his local dealer?

cheers
Li

AS is in production with the 19' CCD now. Delivery to the dealers is supposed to be either the first or last part of September, depending on who you talk with. I would guess that these trailers will be sold quickly...but thats OK. Make a few and get the kinks worked out, if any.

I'm gonna have to pan-handle big time to get one of these...although I'm still open to beautiful old <22'!

Crazy lev

Hi there!

I noticed you're from the east coast too and I was curious to know which dealer gave you that info since all the ones I spoke to navigated in darkness.

Also, we just bought the 22' but have had concerns with it ever since the 19' and 25' were released. Mainly because they both feature a full bth with a window while ours has a wet bath and no window.

ciao

My sources: Airstream pre-sales, R&R RV in Gilman, Ill., Woodland Travel Center in Grand Rapids, MI., et al.

Actualy I'm in Chicago...but that's less than a thousand miles from the east coast.

Jonathan

P.S. Enjoyed your website...if you need a photographer in the Chicago area, I know one...

AS info.

Spoke with Sales dept. at AS.

Confirmed that they released to their Regional Managers a price list for the new CCD line including the 19' and 25' on June 13, 2003.

First shipments of 25' end of June and yes the 19' is due this September. She couldn't give me any info on the floorplans or available colours.

Seemed to believe it would be as we thought identical to the existing 19' Bambi but with CCD interiors. We'll see.

Cheers

PS
This to us confirms that our dealer knew and avoided telling us on purpose so that he could sell off his 2003 stock!

Ouch indeed

I checked the original window sticker on my '02 and the list before options was just over $28K, with options just a few shy of $33, now it looks as if the base has risen over $5K in just 2 years and it does not seem that you are getting anything additional. The base equipment is the same as in past years. I based this on both the description the dealer supplied and the fact that the pics clearly showed no power front jack, no spare tire, no corian, etc. The unit shows that as promised, carpeting is history and now the Bambi has the same vinyl flooring as the CCDs. The appliances are now stainless steel and in the kitchen area, the back wall has been left the polished aluminum and an aluminum blind now covers the galley window. It looks like the sink is also stainless (cutting board was over the sink so only the edges showed). No longer are the drapes wrap around but only cover the window (a downgrade in my opinion). Overall though, the '04 19' Bambi interior is an improvement over previous years. The exterior looks the same other than the Bambi badging is an oval medallion rather than lettering and the rear taillamps are wrap around like those used in the 702 vintage units and the clearance lights are the vintage looking teardrop design.

Greetings.

I just received a call from Vicki at Airstream. About two and a half ago I had left her a message asking if the option of a black tank flush was available for the 19' ccd.

The black tank flush is standard equipment on all ccd's except the 22'.

I am also inquiring about a fantastic fan and aquajet pump install option.

BTW, the color options Blue streak, Lemon Grass, and Hazard Orange apply only to the color of the cushions in the dinnete. The bedspread is white no matter what color option your choose. The lights in the upper cabinets are orange with the Hazard Orange and Blue Streak fabric, and with the lemmon grass the lights in the cabinets are yellow.

The dividing walls, bath door, etc. are that charcol gray/blk wood laminate regardless of what fabric color you choose.

Personally, I think the Blue streak is really impressive.....I think I'm in love!!!

Hey Jonathan,
I spoke to Vickie at A/S on 8/11 with similar questions. We are torn between the 19 Safari and the 19 ccd. She is sending me the option list and I will post as soon as I get it. We liked the Safari upgrade and according to her it is available on both 19 footers. Would like to see the 19 ccd in person!!!

Pics of 19' look great

The pics that Colonial Airstream have posted for the 19' CCD look great. That wraparound window really opens up the dinette. Not sure that I like the fact that windows in the kitchen area are non-opening as there are times when that cross ventilation is nice. Glad to see that the larger appliances from the Safari Bambi remained as both the 16 and 19CCD models use smaller refrig and 2 burner cooktops. In seeing the pics, something did cross my mind...the bare aluminum walls in the bed area are going to be a bit cold to touch, especially in cooler weather. Having the covered walls in our Bambi LS, I can tell you it is much nicer to brush against fabric rather than metal. Of course that could be fixed with a custom made fabric section that snapped in place (like A/Ss of yesteryear did). I do like the halogen lights in the ceiling above the bed. Also the second non opening window in the bed area added a nice touch. The same window above the toilet is at an unappropriate location (passerbys might get more of a look than they wanted). Overall, the CCD translated into the 19' very nicely. Not sure I would trade our makeover, but very nice.

Lookng at that page, did it strike anyone that right under the caption "The New International "CCD" 19' Interior" is a photo of a 22' CCD? They ought to get their act together.

DBTW, you're right. That window in the head had better be frosted.

Colonial Airstream Web Site

Hey John,

The picture of the 22' CCD starts at the "Overview" page and stays there throughout all of the CCD pages (exterior, interior, features, etc.). You'd think they'd be wise enough to at least change the picture when you're looking at the interiors of the different models. If you go to the exterior page you'll be able to see all of them. I think the exterior of the 16' is really cute, but the interior of the 19' would be more practical for me.

BTW, anyone know what a reasonable offer would be for the 19' CCD at a dealer, since they start at $37K+? I've heard a couple of different answers, but about 15% off the sticker seems to be the most common. Does this sound about right?

Toilet in the CCD

I was just cruising through Airstreams web site to see if they've got information on the 2004 19' & 25' CCDs (they don't) so I decided to look at the 16' CCD. There's a photo of the toilet with similar clear windows, but with a roller shade above them (see attached photo). I'm guessing that this is probably the same in the 19' as well.

And speaking of the 16', I noticed in the floorplans that the toilet is now listed as a "wet bath". Does this mean they've added a shower? In the picture it looks like a white shower curtain on the right-hand side of the door.

Well, I answered my own question. More exploration of the Airstream site lead me to the Full Specification PDF which states a "wet bath, shower & toilet combination" for the 16' and 22' CCDs.
