On mine a firm hand grip on the body and lens retaining ring to twist it apart worked fine. I don’t remember which way the ring turns.

Thanks so much! You’re absolutely correct; I was afraid to turn so hard. Thanks for the reply now I’m able to enjoy the lights my gosh they were horribly bright white - like in a surgical suite ugh...ty agn! MK

This upgrade has the best bang for the buck of all the work we have done on our trailer, and we have done a lot.

Never realized how much we avoided using the lights because they were so horrible.

For the lights that are not on a dimmer we doubled up the orange stuff.

There were over thirty in total and we ran out of orange stuff so we experimented with some other color combos.

Lots of fun!

I spent all day trying to remove the lens from the 4 reading lights. One came off really easy. Twisted it CCW about 1/2" and it came right off. No matter what I do I can not seem to budge the other three. Any suggestions?

Put tight rubber gloves on and try again.
Also, cylinders may be a bit out of round, so move your hand grip by 90° and see if it gets easier. Last, add a tiny drop.of silicone lube between the cap and cylinder (good luck cleaning it off after).

Sorry we did not take before and after pics but other people have done so on these forums. for example:

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f24...ion-95117.html

The material is called gel sheet or something.
The covers everywhere but those reading lights just pop off. Look at that link above. Here is another link:

If you got one off then you see how they work and what you are up against.
They might be a little stuck but don't give up! One of mine was really stuck but it turns out it did not need that CCW turn. It was just stuck on with out any turn at all.

If these pics appear, I’ll edit to add some descriptions.

...ok, so this forum is still the most difficult place for me to figure out how to add photos.

We’re you able to view what I tried to download using the “advanced” options, you would see that the light bodies have 3 recessed spots that mate with 3 nubs on the outer lens-retaining ring. Turning the ring counterclockwise a very small amount allows the ring to slide off the light body.

HERES THE CATCH...they put 3 globs of silicone adhesive between the body and the ring. You have to grip and turn hard enough to overcome the silicone adhesion.

I was only able to remove 3 of the 4 before I had to give my hands a rest for awhile.

To remove the 4th ring, which was exceptionally well stuck, I used 2 of those wide rubber bands that come with broccoli. One around the light housing and the other around the ring. The increased friction gave me a non-slip grip which did the trick with no damage to the light.
