Insurance options for vintage 1969 Overlander

I have a 1969 Overlander that I would like to insure, and would like to know what my options are.

Any advice?

Thanks,

John

I would suggest getting an appraisal to determine market value and get a agreed value policy. J. Polk our of CA can do an appraisal by mail with plenty of photos and documentation. Not familiar with any appraisers on the east coast that carriers accept.

FCIS out of Iowa does a lot of business with agreed value policies.

Hi

Insurance is a state by state sort of thing. As we've moved around the country, I've run into all sorts of "we're not licensed in that state" issues. The prices / options you get from various outfits also vary state to state. Yes, it's a mess. In some cases even a pretty good insurance agent can't sort it all out ....

This makes getting an agreed value policy a bit exciting. Your only practical answer (as noted above) *is* a policy like this. Sometimes the insurance outfit will have a preferred appraisal process you go through. It's probably better to talk to them before you spend money on an appraisal.

Since the same process also applies to classic cars, boats, airplanes, and other adult toys, there *will* be somebody serving the market in your area. It's just a matter of working out who ....

As above, appraisal and a good insurance company that does stated value policies.

You may also check with Hagerty Insurance Co. They insure vintage vehicles but just started insuring vintage RVs. We had Jim Polk appraise our Airstreams and sent that info to Hagerty. They insured both our trailers with an agreed value from Polk and we have the salvage rights if totaled. Good luck

I had Polk associates appraise this Airstream. Called Progressive and they insured for stated value without me sending the appraisal to them. They know Jim Polk's work.
