In need of reassurance - New Purchase

Hello,
We have recently ordered a 2010 classic Limited 31 D from the dealer in Denver. It is due to come off the assembly line July 27. One of the main reasons for chosing Airstream was quality. I wanted to avoid all the initial hassles that I had with my first two trailers. After reading the forums for the last few weeks, I am becoming concerned by the negative comments about the factory's Quality control especially in the Town Hall thread.
I am aware that people with a problem are much more likely to post than people who have had a pleasant experience. Therefor I would very much like to hear from members who have taken delivery of new classic limiteds in the last year or so and who did not have initial issues.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,

Reading thru the post, I found yours from May 2009. We are seriously considering purchasing 2013 Classic 31". Can you tell me of any "Quality Control" issues that you have experienced since you purchased your trailer new.

Thanks

I'm not Ken but we did buy a new 2010 31 classic. We have completed several trips in it and warranty issues have been few:
Propane detector failed and was replaced.
Dealer moved thermostat from behind tv to below it. Free
Window knobs keep falling off. Replaced

We did have floor carpet removed at our expense as dog hair was an issue.

Also we added an additional AC as we found ion very hot days one didn't do an adequate job.

This is our second AS and we have had excellent results do far.

That's what warranties are for.

Actually, problems will come in a few different flavors, not all of which are warranty issues:
1 - Defects in materials or workmanship, i.e. warranty issues;
2 - Defects in documentation, i.e. the owner's manuals are wrong/incomplete;
3 - Defects in design, i.e. recall issues;
4 - Defects in use, i.e. Oops!

Most of the problems reported on the AirForums will fall into one of these categories.

Looks like the new Classics are now getting the 15K air conditioners. I'm not sure what was being put in back in 2010 but I know the standard when ours was built was 13.5K. We paid to have that upgraded to the 15K unit at build time. I've never regretted that decision. You probably will find that the 15K unit will be adequate for your new trailer.

If you did purchase the 2013, we're wondering about the corosion issue. Have you noticed yet?

We accepted delivery on our 2013 31 ft. Classic in November 2012. I have only one issue that I have not been able to address yet. Our Queen size bed is not centered in our bedroom. There is more room on one side of the bed than the other, which leaves the left side of the bed flush up against the cabinet. Its only an issue when making up the bed. I need to look at it one more time before I call the dealer, to decide how this should be dealt with. Have no clue what it would take to fix this.

Due to the fact that we had to winterize our unit on delivery and we have only been able to use it without water on week-ends. We will take off full time in April. To this point, we had only a simple repair of our water filter hose at the dealership.

We have seen some bad weather, rain and snow, to this point we had no experience with leaks or corrosion. Thank God. Everything else seems to work as advertised.

At this point, we are very happy with our purchase. We went to a RV show this week-end, I am even more convinced of the quality and the Airstream brand. This is truly a quality trailer.

Wishing you the best and hope this helps.
