I hope you see my reply. That is insane and I was at the factory for initial repairs from new and was told that it will always cost more if they do it versus a competent repairer. I am sure they would not be happy to know that even their own employees think they are overpriced. I started to work with Dixie in Calera since that is my mothers' hometown but did not finish because of reasons you mentioned. They do not seem to know what you would expect from a dealer of a product. I hope someone else chimes in for advice. I only went to warranty work facility because it was new. I would just do the install myself. Some other human-built it and if you have any mechanical ability you as a human can do it as well. There is nothing electrical top be concerned with from what I have viewed. I may be wrong if a brake light is connected but do not believe there is. Ask a friend if you need help or are not sure. Just my thoughts.

Their lack of familiarity would send me elsewhere. As for the cost, I am not particularly handy and it would be a PROJECT for me.

Fiamma Bike Rack

My wife purchased a Fiamma Bike rack a few months ago. A few weeks back I went to install it. It’s a beautiful design with on issue. On a classic 30 the rack almost makes it impossible to open the back access hatch. If you want a rack at a reasonable discounted price we would be glad to sell it to you.

As for the installation process, Airstream has a “how to” video on the installation process. Once all the parts are laid out as in the video, it shouldn’t take more than an hour and a half to install. It’s pretty straight forward.

If you are interested in ore let us know.

Very satisfied

As long as we are touting the Arvika rear mount rack.

I too have this rack (2 rail) and I have found some benefits for me that the Fiamma rack doesn't have:
- Easily folds down or removes completely for unfettered access to rear storage locker (note, not all Airstreams have a rear storage locker)
- A 2" receiver adapter can be purchased to convert the rack into one that can be used behind your tow vehicle

Bike Rack

Dixie RV is about 3 miles from us. My neighbor bought a unit from them, but was told by the service department, after he had a few problems, that they were short of mechanics and they couldn't commit to timely repairs because of this. They probably don't want to install it.

Bike rack for Sport 21ft Bambi

I’ve tried to find a bike rack for the back of my 22ft Sport. Dealer says I need to have a bumber kit installed. Too much $$. I tried a aframe hitch above the propane tanks but had contact with the tow vehicle when turning. Is there a bike rack that will work? I’d like to install it myself. Checked the mentioned websites , no mention of installation for my AS.

Dealer says I have to have bumper kit installed to mount either of the bike racks mentioned. Our is a 22ft Sport. Is a bumper required for mounting?

I thought quite a bit about that bike rack and ended up buying the Arvika Airstream Travel Trailer Rack - 7000 Series - Black from www.racksforcars.com.

https://www.racksforcars.com/15147/A...ailer-Bracket/

Cost around $700 depending on exchange rate (they are in Canada) but the rack and bikes ride a lot better since they are in front instead of the back end.

We negotiated the price as part of our AS purchase (2014 bought new May 2015) and got a pretty good deal overall, but they had to order the rack. Total P & L was $850. They did however have a few installed on new units for sale so I could see examples of workmanship, both dealer and product.

I understood they they retailed for about $600-650 then, so the $250 or so for labor seemed reasonable. If I were buying it now I wold install it myself. But with a brand new shiny AS and not knowing what I know now, turn-key was the only decision.

I have had 2 Fiama's installed; one on our new 2014 25' FC, and one on our 2017 28' FC; both by same dealer in CA. Quote for the bike rack was $600; installation was $500, both times. I was able to negotiate as part of the overall deal, so it became free. So, $1000-1100 sounds about right.

Mine is either the DGX-200-A or the 7002-26-A. But to be clear, it was not designed to be rear mounted. The rack was modified and installed by my dealer (Can-Am in London, Ontario) using square aluminum rod from Zip Dee awnings drilled and set into fittings mounted on the trailer bumper and middle rub rail. It is attached with clips and can be removed easily or tilted to gain access to the rear hatch.
Clear as mud? [emoji848]

I purchased the Fiamma bike rack from the Airstream online store. The web page did say the rack was out of stock but I called and they were actually in stock. Was about $550. The local AS dealer charged 1 hour to install at the $130/hr shop labor rate.

We got ours from Colonial Airstream in Lakewood, New Jersey when we purchased the FIAMMA rack for the back of our Flying Cloud 26RBQ in February 2018. Total installed cost was around $800.00 installed. After logging around 15,000 miles and two electric bikes since then, I believe it to be a terrific product and worth every penny.
