Cost to Factory install Fiamma Bike Rack

I am being told by my certified airstream dealer that the cost to install a Fiamma bike rack on my 2019 23D FC will be 2K. The rack I'm told is $800. Seems very high to me. Does anyone have any experience with this? This is Dixie RV in Calera Al. Also they seemed to not know much about them (I had to explain what they were), so I am a little leery to let them install it.

Question

Seems very high IMO. Does the $2,000 include all parts, labor and sales tax? That might soften the blow, but $1,200 to $1,500 would be more inline for a grand total. Ask them about lead time also. The Fiamma factory had tragedy strike last year, and it affected inventory I believe.

Best bet is to forget having the dealer install the rack IMO. It is an easy aftermarket item.

Good luck,

Petet

Cost to Factory install Fiamma Bike Rack

I paid under $1000 Canadian for the Canadian “Arvika” version of the Fiama Bike Rack. Price included installation.
2K for installation is beyond crazy expensive IMO.

I don't want a front mounted rack over my tanks. I also do not want to self install and void any factory warranties. It is a brand new trailer.

I think my Fiamma rack cost less than $600 and I installed myself. It was very easy.

The online Airstream store has it listed for $544.45 but out of stock.
I would not let a service dept who doesn't know about them have you be the test run.
If they charged another $500 to install they would be gouging you in my op.

The Arvika is rear mounted very similar to the Fiama. It is custom modified and not shown as a rear mount unit on their web site.
I assure you that it is every bit the equal or perhaps even superior to the Fiama. However, it was likely the dealer that installed the rack that custom modified it for use on the rear of the A/S.
Anyways, my point is not Fiama vs Arvika but that your dealer is asking too much for the install.
Cheers

I know you indicate you do not want to self install and void any warranty, etc. I feel certain this would not void a warranty and the install is very simple. For $1,400 in savings, well worth it. You can buy directly from Fiamma if wanted. Check for someone possibly in your area that has done the install for some help or attend a Rally. I am quite sure there would be someone around to assist that has done the install before. I spoke to them a few weeks ago and purchased a different arm and they were very nice and helpful.

Order the rack online and install it yourself!!!

Took me less than 30-minutes with a screwdriver/drill using the detailed instructions that come with the rack.

I bought mine from Airstream and the cost with shipping was just over $600. I would guess that the labor would be under 2 hours. $850 would be my estimate.

Who told you 2K?

Mine was $600 from dealer and it seems they wanted about $1000 to install so i ended up doing it myself. As others have said, simple install, less than an hour...

Tim Maxwell (Airstream) does a pretty good job explaining the installation here:

Arvika aluminum
3 rail
Rear mount
Installed out the door $1000 USD
CANAM RV Ontario. They use brackets and mounts from zipdee awnings.

Very satisfied

I had a FIAMMA bike rack installed on my 2017 28' International when I made my warranty visit to JC. The rack was $544.45 and the labor was $202.50. So the dealer is pretty over the top. It took the JC technician 1.5 hours to do the install. We had previously carried our two bikes in the bed of our TV. The rack makes it so much easier. We love it.

And your wallet too, from the sounds of it. The very fact that you’re asking says more than anything else.

I would have installed the FIAMMA myself, but since I was having some other mods done (Micro Air Easy Starts) and some other minor adjustments I figured it was worth $200 in labor to let them do it. I am sure the Arvika is a good rack, and I think they make a rear mount. One thing I will say for certain is the Fiamma is a hefty well built rack (bigger diameter tubing than the Arvika). With two mountain bikes on the rack, monitoring with my rear camera, I get nearly zero movement of the bikes going down the road.

Shop around

I just installed mine yesterday. It took me about 3 hours but was not difficult, especially if you follow along with this video https://youtu.be/uQXo-AS1xcM
The local dealer here in Alberta Canada wanted about $2000 (Canadian dollars) to Supply and install. They said the rack itself was $1200 and would take six weeks to order in. I managed to find another Western Canadian dealer that had one in stock and paid $1000 including tax and shipping to my home.

I recommend you shop around… Check Amazon and multiple dealers, have it shipped to your house and install it yourself.

Good luck!
