Clearance between trailer and TV
I'm planning on purchasing a Classic and want to decide on the tow vehicle (pick up truck). Is there enough clearance so that I could leave the tailgate down in order transport longer items? Any advice you can give is appreciated.

A Hensley/Propride hitch extends the space between AS and truck to put the tailgate down, but you would still be limited with tight turns.

Welcome, it depends on the stringer used. Not going to recommend any specific brand. Plenty of fan boys here to do that.

You cannot travel with the tailgate down. The shank would have to be 2' long.
I can open my tailgate all the way while parked straight, but traveling has turns. When you turn, your tongue jack and propane tanks get closer.

Especially with a PPP hitch. On turns, they swing to the side and forward, shortening the effective distance between TT and TV.
a much longer shank/stinger would allow this, but is detrimental to sway stability. I, personally, would not consider it. If you need a long bed PU, get a long bed PU (8').

Traveling with the tailgate down would result in damage to the tailgate, tongue jack, and propane tank cover.
I have a really long shank, but that is not the purpose of the long shank. The purpose of the long shank is so you can turn the steering wheel all the way in a turn and the weight distribution bars will never get into your bumper. For safe handling and proper weight distribution you want the shank as short as possible.

If you want to haul long items in your pickup bed, get a 6 1/2 or 8' bed, not a 5 1/2' bed like mine.
