Battery... Again

So... it looks like there's a new battery in my future. What kind do yall recommend? I've got a 22 Sport, ergo 1 battery. The nearly decreased battery was a Marine Deep Cycle.

Depends on how you use the trailer. Deep cycle if you always camp with power. AGM costs more and gives a little longer service. Lithium if you boondock a bit and can afford the $1000 up front against maybe 10 years service. And you will need a new converter for the lithium and probably for the AGM. Me, I use folded cell and replace every 2 years. Brand does not seem to matter a lot.

I expect you would be well off tonreplace the converter anyway. But I do not know what they used in 2014.

Is a "folded cell" just a plain ol' lead battery? And what's the problem with the converter? (Or do you just mean "since you're having battery problems ...")

He meant flooded cell, regular battery. The converter supplied by Airstream(Chinese), until very recently, never went into float and the output from the charger boiled the battery until dead. Many have replaced the stock charger from Randy at Bestconverter.com. It is a charger/converter.

Meant flooded cell. Some converters overcharge the battery when plugged in for long periods. My trailers were older models than yours and had a really bad converter design in them. No, changing batteries every year or 2 is normal, I think.

Do a search and read through some I’d the “converter” threads on these forums. Some think there are better ones than Airstream uses.
