25 Footers

Starting a 25 footer thread. May be one but I have not found it. I have considered several trailers, the Interstate and a Winnebago Aspect. I have decided on a 2017 Serenity, 25B. Will get a 2017 F-250, diesel as TV. Look forward to the summer when truck and trailer get here. I understand the new 2017 AS will start arriving in some dealers in June. Not sure when the 2017 250 will arrive but have my bid into my Ford dealer friend. Cant wait to get it on the road. Plan to be out for 6 weeks to two months, home for a week and back out for another couple of months. Will be interested in others comments who have 25 footers.

Our first AS was a 25', really enjoyed it. A year later got our 27', the following year we ordered our 2015 Classic. I hope Airstream doesn't produce a 32 footer
Have fun the adventure has begun. Safe travels.

We're rolling next week-end for a 3 months X country trip lasting 3 months. So far we love our 25ft, easy to tow & set up. We may do a modification regarding the front lounge after this trip but thought we'd give it a functional chance regarding comfort vs a lounge chair or two.
The new F250 most likely will not hit the streets until January as did the 2015 aluminum body F150. Ford will be offering big discounts on the 2016 F250 to move inventory before the new aluminum body F250 is available.

Smallest of the large Airstreams, with all the mechanical and system benefits. Not too small when camping and not too large when traveling, which makes it near perfect. Available with front or rear bed model, a great size either way.

We had a 20 but needed more space, got our 25 RB and converted seating for recliners with drop-down tables, reversed the bath door to open to bedroom and larger mirror, three-stage charger, vent covers front and rear, Michelin 16" tires, full set stainless steel exterior access doors, Classic clearance lights, and ProPride hitch for rock-solid towing.

We have look at other models but nothing has better overall versatility than this size Airstream, customized for own own travel. Which is extensive. Many cross-country trips each year all over the country, at least six months each time. Absolutely comfortable in the campground and on the highway.

Among the things we have learned. It is easy to customize as our needs change, dinette to recliner or sofa seating. Queen to twin bed sleeping. Add cabinets or shelves. It fits in any reasonable campsite, and doesn't drag the bottom on approaches or back roadway. You can get in/out to fuel the rig at any gas station arrangement. It is towable by large sedans, SUVs, or half-ton and larger trucks; all of them need appropriate hitch setups for satisfactory performance.

I just picked up my Signature 25A. That means TWIN beds are now offered for the serenity series. I opens up the back. More storage space under the beds as well as more outside hatches. I also ordered the Voyager Backup camera (can't live without it) mainly for situational awareness driving down the road. Last, I coughed up the $$$$ for a power awning (absolutely LOVE IT). The power awning option is allowed for Serenity 25s and up.
Good luck on your 2017. You picked the perfect size TT.

Thanks to all of you. Some great modification ideas, I am sure some of those will be in my future. Good point Joe on availability of 2017s. I have heard mid summer but could certainly live with a 2016. I have a 2013, Eco boost, F-150 platinum. Would certainly pull the trailer, but I would quickly go over posted payload on TV, so decided to just move to the 250. I do appreciate all of you commenting.

Our 25 A fits my philosophy of get the smallest trailer we can be comfortable with. Also, the way it tows is nothing short of amazing. Always smoothly, and always steadily. We wanted twin beds because there is plenty of room to move around, and no hitting ours heads on the cabinetry The extra outside storage is a big plus also. We liked the shower contained within the bath. We have had enough of dinettes with their short, straight backed seating. The settee works for us now, although we may consider two recliners in its place later.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

You're on the right track. We have had three Airstreams over the last ten years. We had a 2005 Safari 25FB that we bought new. We spent almost 1,400 nights in her and towed her over 120,000 miles. We traded the 2005 in on a used 2012 Flying Cloud 23FB. We used her about a year. We spent 150 nights in her, and towed her 15,000 miles. We really missed our 25FB. In October of 2014, we traded the 23FB on a brand new 2015 Flying Cloud 25FB. We have now spent over 200 nights in the new 25FB, and have towed her over 20,000 miles.

The bottom line is that a 25 foot Airstream is the perfect travel trailer to travel extensively.

Brian

A lot of us are pulling Airstream 25's with half-ton trucks, you ought to save big dollars and give yours a try.

You may be surprised what adjusting gear loading position in truck and trailer, trailer battery location change, and a quality weight distribution hitch and adjustment, possibly reinforcing the truck's receiver can do for "payload". Some of us concern ourselves with GVWR, some with axle/tire ratings, and some don't give a damn once they get a good hitch setup and learn what their truck is capable of by experience.

That F150 has gobs of power, handles and brakes very well, and a relatively low "payload" means it won't beat the heck out of you and your Airstream going down the road, over time.

We love our 2008 International SS (six sleeper). It works great for our family of 4 + dog.

I am curious as to why airstream dropped the SS floor plan in 2009. (Well I guess it was based on lack of demand but...) It's a super functional layout, feels very open / spacious and has lots of seating. The corner bed works fine for us ... I guess everyone wants a short queen. For us though... We're sticking with our 25SS.

We just wrapped up a bunch of upgrades and it's better than ever....

The 25 SS is a terrific design with a genuine sofa and a dinette. Wish they would bring it back, it would be the only midsize Airstream with these features. The 25's with a sofa and drop-down side tables were also terrific, and a shortfall in the present choices.

Now, how about the nice 25 Classics they offered some years ago?

I have a Classic...I am so glad it doesn't have a dinette....The side tables and the two Zip Dee chairs work fine for when we need a table and seating.

We removed one of the dinette benches and replaced with an extension of the couch... The dinette bed never worked really well for us. It makes for a really big seating area now and much improved bed situation for 2 kids (each have their own space).

We like the dinette table for family meals, games, etc..

We then (just recently) modified the couch by removing the rear storage, making the couch significantly deeper. It now pulls out and makes for a bed that is somewhere between a Queen and King...

Great ideas everyone! Doug, i appreciate your comments. I have no doubt my 150 would pull the load but with tongue weight, full tank two people, and a few smaller items, I would be over my allotted 1100 pounds. Would that pose a problem, probably not, but I want to carry two generators, an air compressor, tool chest, and while I might put some of them in underbelly storage on the trailer, I want to put my spare for the TV and trailer in the back of the truck. The 250 will allow me to do all of that without any concern and have way more than enough power to tow the trailer, which will be at max weight. Just a mental comfort that I am willing to pay to have. I figure I have worked all my life to have some nice things and I am in the market. Very fortunate and blessed. Thanks again for all the comments, can't wait to get it all together.

I love my 2012 25FB, and pull it just fine in the Colorado high country with a Tundra 1/2 ton 5.7L. Agree with a previous poster that you can get away with less truck. And do you really want to wait over a year for a 2017 trailer? A year wasted...
In the last 6 months I've upgraded the batteries, replace all the faucets and put in a ceramic bowl sink in the bath, replaced the power converter, added a portable satellite dish, upgraded to Maxfans, added LED strip outside lighting and a backup camera, and let the wife decorate with bedding and lots of pillows. For WAY less than a new one I've got exactly what I want, and it didn't take that much time. Only might want to upgrade the cushions from cloth to leather, but I can always get that done or just order a set from Airstream.

As many say, just get out there!

When we purchased our 2015 Eddie Bauer 25' everyone tried to say that we should have gotten the 27' with the bigger bedroom due to the bed being centered in the room with two bedside tables, however ... we chose the 25' because many of the Federal and State Park camp grounds cap out at 25'.

A year later (almost) and we couldn't be happier. How do we know we didn't want a 27' - easy - we have avoided going into one!

The only thing that was a pain were the drop down reading lights under the most forward storage area. I located the OEM LED puck light maker and simply replaced the hang downs with pucks. Now I don't knock my head.

The 25' will serve you well, if you pack with purpose and don't take "everything" you own, (and we are a family of 4).

Happy travels.

Speaking of upgrading cushions, we have a complete set of Golden Ultra-Leather cushions in near-new condition with absolutely no damage, no pets, for sale. These are from our FRONT DINETTE 2012 FC 25 that we converted to recliners. We actually have the complete furniture, but it is way too much to ship. PM us if interested.

At least I have been told that the 2017 trailers will begin to arrive in June. Depending on the availability of the 2017 Super Duty, as soon as either the truck or trailer is available, I plan to get the other, maybe a 2016. I will drive all the way across the country if needed to get one.

Consider the twin bed option now available even in the International models.

The cross frame queen bed does not agree with everyone. I hit my head when sitting up in the bed on the overhead roof locker. There is actually no walk around space between the bed and the wall. I tried to do the crab walk thing for the nightly pee raid without waking the wife with poor results. The dealer installed 155 watt solar system was a very expensive mistake as it was too small for the loads imposed running the furnace on cold nights.

So we solved those and other issues with a 31' 2014 Classic with twin beds and a more appropriate 800 watt solar system on the roof plus lots of other modifications.
