1976 caravanner

can anyone out there tell me if airstream ever built a model with the door hinged on the right side? Iam looking at a 1976 caravanner that has it's door hinges on the right hand side It looks like it would get in the way of the awning support.Could this be a repair of some older damage?

Actually, many Airstreams have the door hinged on the right...ours does. You can see many examples at vintagearstream.com

Yes, it does create a few challenges when it comes to awnings...the best solutions are:

1) a stake & pole style awning
2) a removable arm bracket with a traditional ZipDee style awning
3) living with a door that only opensd 90-degrees

Good luck in whatever you decide to pursue.
