1954,55,or56 Flying Cloud or Safari?
This is parked in an alley in our town, and I'm curious if I've figured it out correctly?
Looks rough-ish, but at least it appears they mow under it :-)

55 Safari?
Looks like a 55. Same front windows as our 54 Cruiser 26ft., but it has the teardrop side lights that came out on the 55 models.
A bit hard to tell from the pics but it looks like a 22-footer. Yes, I think you're right about the Safari. Can you look inside?
Are you familiar with the VintageAirstream.com list of trailer models and years? It looks a lot like this one!
Could be a gem if the price was right...

My vote is for a '56 Ohio made Safari and it looks restorable to me. Maybe they roll it our to mow under it.

I'll guess 54 Safari based on the info. from Vintage Airstream. Note the right hinged door and taller front body panel (it was shortened in 55) - as well as the full row of street side windows. Not sure what all the vents are for next to the door.....

Looks right to me. I think it is a Safari because of the 3 window set on the streetside. It appears to have a front kitchen with all the vents. It could be a tough rehab project because of all the window problems. I have found windows the toughest thing to come up with after exterior door hinges.

Can you sneak down the alley and get the serial number? Having the serial number will really help narrow down the year and model.
I have a trailer that looks exactly like a 1954 Safari should like like -- same side windows for that year and exact same floor plan for that year. But, further research on the serial number put the trailer smack dab in the middle of the serial number range for a 1954 Flying Cloud! So sometimes, floorplan and body panels aren't enough info to positively identify a model (especially the 22 footers which had multiple models across the years).

VintageTrailerSupply has a nice selection of vintage window parts and pieces. The glass would have to be ordered somewhere else.
For me the lights on the side were a marker. We have a 54 and it has round reflectors. The 55s on had teardrop shaped.
And, yes if you could get the serial number it would tell a lot. Night requisition? No, I mean, don't take it. Just sneak up on it at night and snap a pic. hee, hee! (it's hard to tell from the picutres you have but it looks like it might be on the left side of the door mid-way up. Either that or it was where the vent is now...)

Still think it's a 54. Look at the front lower body panel - it's tall - in 55 the panel was shortened for ease of repair according to Vintage Airswtream. Also, here is what they say about the model including the lighting.
"In 1954 the Ohio factory added a new model name and layout, based upon a popular layout seen in the earlier Flying Clouds. 1954 also saw the introduction of the sloping back end and increase in length to 22 feet. The Safari was unique in that it had a lot more open floor plan with usually no streetside closets, allowing windows along the length of the galley. Initially the kitchen was in the front and the dinette on the streetside - this swapped later to the conventional front dinette. The dinette was the hallmark of the Safari, although some later Safari trailers were ordered with the conventional sofa in front.
The Safari was introduced with the teardrop shaped side-markers, and the taillights were the Bargman "11" recessed type. Door handles were the heavy cast Bargman lever type."
Whatever it is - it would be great restored.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably wait until it warms up again then knock on their door and ask what year it is. One of those "do unto others" sorts of things.
It's in a modest neighborhood, and although it's pretty safe, I'm thinking the curbside window frame bend is a product of vandalism - curiosity vandalism most likely, but still.
Really don't think it would fit in the garage, but it certainly appears that the sheet metal is in good condition.
Thanks again!
