Year and Model

I am happy that these forums are here but annoyed by the fact that in the profile section there are so few options for year and model. I did not spend 8 months restoring a 1960 18' "footer". It is referred to as a 'Traveler' on the original electrical plan and I believe there should be an option to call it that.

How about a 1959 Globetrotter?

I had no idea our Moderators were able to do this! Will you please add "Globetrotter" to the options for the 1959 18 "Footer?"

Thanks in advance!

There is some confusion about the 18 foot models. I'm looking onto the globetrotter - see this thread for some interesting discussion http://www.airforums.com/forums/f114...ter-17132.html

These 18 footers were variously named Caravel, Traveler, Custom & Globetrotter. Many had no name at all. You also might find this interesting http://www.vintageairstream.com/archives/index.html

On edit: these models have been added to the profile options..

Janet and all... I understand that there may be some confusion regarding late 50's/esarly 60's 18's but I feel stongly that the label on my build sheet is corrrect...'Traveler'. I have even seen the model I have referred to as 'no name' on credible websites. My understanding is that Airstream manufactures odd trailers during the off season. I believe that the 18 ft trailers we are referring to are of the odd bunch. Mine has a door that opens to the front (suicide style) My Dad likes to say... "The door guy was drunk that day".

I feel a little intimidated adding to this thread as I am such a newbie, but I also noticed that my trailer make is not available on the profile section. I have a 1972 31' Excella 500. The earliest year listed for the Excella on the profile section is 1973. I thought perhaps I was being silly and somehow I had a '73 on my hands and a '72 does not exist, but I double checked the title and looked at the VIN and it is indeed a 1972. Can "1972 31' Excella 500" be added as an option on the profile section?

Hello -- and welcome to Air Forums! Your Excella 500 truly does fit into the Airstream universe -- 72Excella. I've added it to the available profiles. When logged in you may switch your profile by going to your User CP (control panel on the top blue menu bar), and then going to 'Edit Your Detail.'

Thanks, nausicaa, now I don't feel alone. I have a 1980 31' Excella. Not only Airforums but, even the 1980 Owners Manual does not list an "Excella" -- only the "Excella II". Like you, I checked the documents over and over and could not find an official model match for the tin tent right before my eyes. Frustrating, huh?
