Where are the instructions about how to use site?

I'm computer stupid and I'd appreciate someone telling me where to find instructions for how to access the methodology for posting questions/answers etc. and generally how to negotiate the site. I always flounder around when trying to flip from page to page etc. and I don't see the logic. I know there must be something I'm missing. Thanks

Hello, I'll try to answer your question. I don't think we have ever written up specific unstructions on how to use the site. But maybe I can give you a little to go on.

If you look at the top of the page you will see some 'tabs' which say Portal, Forums, etc on them. If you click on Forums, you are taken to a list of all the areas in the AirstreamForums.com website. They are broken up into subjects, like community, rallies, restoration, stuff like that. Click on one of those areas to enter it and see what people are talking about under that topic.

Clicking on Portal takes you to the 'front page' where the most recent threads from all the areas are listed. This is a good place to go if you drop in and want to see what is most current.

You managed to make it to the How-To area, and made a post, so I'd say you are well on your way to getting the hang of it.

If I have misunderstood your question or if you have more, feel free to ask! Just scroll to the bottom of this page and enter it in the Quick Reply box and hit the Post button.

Using site quest.

Hi Stephanie: Thanks for your answer. Got another question. I'm guessing there must be a quicker way to post. I still have to turn several pages etc, to find a "post" opportunity. Is there only one place to post? I don't find that any of the individual sections allow posting. Is that correct? Also, I see a "Post Reply" button and the "Quick reply box". Whats the difference? Thanks

They are related. After you fill out the info in the quick reply message box, you hit "post Quick reply" to send the info into cyber space.

If you are on the "Forum" screen you won't be able to post. The "Forum" is kinda like the table of contents page and there is not a place to post a question. You will just see all the "Sub-Forum" categories listed in an outline format. Select one of those that is most related to the topic you want to read or post about. This will take you to a "Sub-Forum" page.

If you are in a "Sub-Forum" you need to look for the "New Thread" button, up near the top of the screen on the left. Or after the sub-topics. Click it, then ask your new question and follow the prompts to post it. It helps to be in a sub-forum that is related to the question you are going to ask. Sometimes there isn't one at this level and you need to further narrow your topic by selectiong one of the listings shown, then the "New Thread" button will appear.

If you are in a "Thread" you will see the "quick reply box" at the bottom of the page. This is used for adding your comments to discussions already taking place. Your post will be added to the existing thread. You may also see a "Post Reply" button at the top of the page. Either will add your comments to the thread that you are in.

Hope this helps ~ It is a bit confusing when you just join. Hang in there, you'll be a pro before you know it!

Shari

To add to the previous post, when viewing a Thread you'll also find the Post Reply button near the top and bottom of each displayed page, in addition to the Quick Reply box at bottom-center.

When you start posting pictures, you might find this thread helpful

Oh! and Preview Post is your friend (but not available in Quick Reply).

Cheers,

Welcome to the forums!

Way to go, learning to use the site! You have the hang of it... 10 posts! Just ask away and folks will come to your rescue! It does take awhile to learn how to use most of the functions, but if you explore you will find lots of things to interest you!

How to use site

I am trying to access new posts to a thread about Sad Day for Flamingos and I can only access the first page of the posts. I see that there are 3 pages but I can only access page 1. Am I doing something wrong? Also, I clicked on Support and couldn't see where to ask this question. Thanks, pj

How to use site

Yes, I tried clicking on page numbers but they don't work. I can see on the last posts page that other people have replied but I cannot access any post after 10/31/06. Obviously others can because people seem to keep adding replies but I cannot see them. If I see a recent post, I can click on that person's link and read all of their posts but that is really a hard way to read the thread. thanks, pj
